It's actually very easy, especially if you do something simple.

When I have to talk to someone it really bothers me until I start to view it as "inevitable" in my head. Like I had to go get a blood test this morning, but it was "inevitable," like I can't get out of it, so I was able to talk the nurse and secretary and not have any problems. But I can't go get a fucking haircut because I can do it myself. I'm terrified of getting a haircut. Just the thought of sitting there having to say the hairstyle or make small talk, it's horrifying.

Congrats op, I cut my own hair again two days ago after a failed attempted to get one at a haircut place in Walmart. Being estranged I asked the difference between style and a normal haircut and the lady realized I must not get out much (also very pale person) and when she told me to wait, I needed to give a phone number. I don't have a phone, so I said the area code, stopped and told her "I can't give you one right now" and said I'll come back in half hour. I waited 30 minutes in my car and drove home and told my parents they were closed.
