If she hasn't had the account long and doesn't use it much then she probably hasn't bothered to enable push notifications. I think you're in the clear.

No idea how this app works. But could you try liking one of her recent photos? That way if she gets a notification or two, it looks like it's just for you liking a recent photo she posted.
