FYI Beliefs don't mean jack shit
>>
>>35235368
Why should they believe in climate change. Belief in God gives them hope and other benefits. What does belief in climate change give them
>>
>>35235368
I don't believe in either, and live in the US. I'm just a skeptic, and people saying, "Well all these scientists that rely on the government for a paycheck say that climate change is real and we should therefore give more power to the government," doesn't satisfy my skepticism, and raw data is hard to come by.

That's basically only the South though. You're thinking of Mississippi and the like. All the other states seem to really hate those states, almost to the point of the US being split into two separate countries.
Mind you, that almost happened once. Didn't go well.

It should have happened. Still upset that we kept those cousin-fuckers.

that's because god is real and global warming isn't. if youd stop getting all of your info from fake news you'd see all the evidence supporting the former and the total lack of evidence supporting the latter.

It's funny you think scientists, who are in it for money (a retarded notion in itself), would go to the government of all places to enrich themselves. There's no shortage of work for them in the private sector who could easily pay more as the science budget has been repeatedly slashed and gutted under almost every president.

Furthermore, pretty much every organization outside of the GOP acknowledges global warming, from Saudi Arabia to Exxon. The debate is whether the rate of global warming is as quick or cataclysmic/harmful as liberals argue. Only tinfoil wearing mouth breathers like yourself even think it's still a question.

And that counts as raw data how?

>The debate is whether the rate of global warming is as quick or cataclysmic/harmful as liberals argue.
No, it's not. That's already been laid to rest. Back in the 70's, my parents had to write an essay on how they were going to live through the next ice age. Then Al Gore, in his film, said all the ice caps would be melted 2 years ago unless major, life-altering changes came into place. Neither has come to pass.

>Only tinfoil wearing mouth breathers like yourself even think it's still a question.
I don't care what your opinion on me is. I care about seeing the raw data.

Serious question:
How did Trump win if he lost the popular vote? I don't get it. I'm not triggered or anything; I'm genuinely curious as to how that happened.

Can we agree though that earth's climate is changing, completely irrelevant if humans are at fault, and that we, as organisms adapted and at least somewhat dependant on the current state of earth, would do well to try and stop any change from happening?

>>35235825
Study the electoral college. It is possible, in theory, for a candidate to win every state but California (the most populated state) by a single vote, and he would take all the delegates in those 49 states (totaling 483 delegate votes), and then the other person, who lost all 49 states by a single vote, could win California unanimously, and still only win 55 delegates.

It allows each state to be represented, and also allows states with low populations, but produces a lot of value, to have votes weighted in that way.
>>
>>35235825
Each state picks their candidate based on popular vote in that state
Each state has a certain amount of points depending on population and area size
Whichever candidate gets 270 points wins

This is done so candidates don't just ignore the smaller states and pander only to the massive ones like california, texas ect.

Absolutely. The climate has always been changing, for time immemorial.

>and that we, as organisms adapted and at least somewhat dependant on the current state of earth, would do well to try and stop any change from happening
Not at all. That's like saying humans are dependant on the wind blowing, but not too fast, so we should do well to try and stop the wind from blowing too fast.
>>
>>35235825
Because if we went by popular vote then all the idiots in California would have way too much power and what's best for them might not be best for the rest of the country. Instead we have a certain amount of representatives for each state that we vote for to vote for us.

>won't find data himself

>won't believe it until seeing research and data himself
>expects someone to write him an essay including all essential data to convince him

why should anyone care about your attempts to seem smart by being skeptical of the consensus of climate scientists on an issue regarding climate that was reached by compiling evidence from decades of research that you refuse to find yourself? the fact that you can't find the data shows that you're ignorant of how science is published, which shows that you're not a scientist, much less a climate scientist, which means your opinion on issues regarding climate don't matter.

the real question is, why do you think that anyone should try to convince you when your opinion on the matter is inconsequential, you refuse to seek the information yourself, and you refuse to change your belief until someone delivers everything to you?

>Not at all. That's like saying humans are dependant on the wind blowing, but not too fast, so we should do well to try and stop the wind from blowing too fast.

But... this is true? We need wind for a lot of things like rain, but if the wind is too fast it destroys everything and sometimes even kills us, like hurricanes, tornados or typhoons. If earth's windspeed were like 500 km/h all the time we'd die.

Uh? Ok, considering we most likely live in different countries that's probably a true statement. Yet completely off topic.
>>
>>35235975
>won't find data himself
Looked for raw data. Can't find it. If you have a site that provides raw data, and not just conclusions, PLEASE pass them along.

>won't do independent research
I don't have access to ice core samples, nor do I have access to the type of equipment needed to verify that increased carbon in the air leads to global warming OR global cooling.

>won't believe it until seeing research and data himself
Why is that asking too much?

>expects someone to write him an essay including all essential data to convince him
I don't want the essay. There's PLENTY of those. I want the raw data, proving everything that they are claiming. That's all.

>why should anyone care about your attempts to seem smart by being skeptical of the consensus of climate scientists on an issue regarding climate that was reached by compiling evidence from decades of research that you refuse to find yourself?
Because they are asking me to vote for the government to change my life.

>the fact that you can't find the data shows that you're ignorant of how science is published, which shows that you're not a scientist, much less a climate scientist, which means your opinion on issues regarding climate don't matter.
I've seen the published findings on multiple articles. Raw data is never included, and calling the institution responsible for publishing said paper does not resolve the issue.

That's like saying that I'm an idiot for not taking someone's word that the Bible is real, and that he KNOWS It is real because of what he read in the restricted section of the Vatican library, but I just have to take his word for it, because I can't read what he read.
>>
>>35235982

Are you suggesting that governments all around the world should be taxing people so that they can build windbreaks every quarter mile, just so the wind speeds can never get that fast?

Now you're just being obtuse
>>
>>35236076

If they see a consistent trend of windspeeds increasing every year, at some point that would be necessary. At some point most citizens would agree it is Necessary, since at that point the wind would already impact their lives quite a bit.

This is not a real scenario btw.
>>
>>35236053

>That's like saying that I'm an idiot for not taking someone's word that the Bible is real, and that he KNOWS It is real because of what he read in the restricted section of the Vatican library, but I just have to take his word for it, because I can't read what he read.

no, it's like saying you're an idiot for not taking the word of people that research climate on an issue regarding climate. or that you're an idiot for not believing in evolution until you've seen raw data that conclusively showing the principles of evolution to be true.

i'm not going to exchange posts with you. your vote is inconsequential, as shown by the recent election in which the candidate that got less votes won. the only way to convince you is to give you raw data, which i don't have because i'm not a climate scientist, and i'm not going to retrieve because it is likely blocked by a paywall and would require more searching than im willing to do to convince you.
>>
>>35236144
Ok. Now provide the evidence for a consistent increase (or decrease - I'm open to evidence of global cooling) in temperature every year, just over the past 50 years. Should be easy enough, right?

That's all I'm asking for, and I feel that's a reasonable request.

you're asking on the internet. if you wanted to see it you'd search for it at a university, but instead you'll proudly display your title as skeptic and continue to hold your contrarian views to validate it
>>
>>35236177
Ah, so YOU believe it without actually seeing the evidence to the claim?

You can go to a museum and see the evidence if evolution through fossils, after all. Sure, there are "missing links" here and there, but there's enough evidence to give the theory weight. That's all I'm asking for regarding climate change, and if you AREN'T asking for that, you are relying on the words of others in order to justify changing our day to day lives.

Look up record temperatures for your city. We've had days that were almost as warm as days in the 1800's, when quote climate change hasn't affected the earth. The planet gets warm and goes cold big deal. Yes polar caps are melting but it's gonna take 300 or more years for the coasts of the world to be flooded out. Further more it shouldn't be our problem to cut down emissions considering our impact is negligible compared to china, africa, brazil or any where else they has industry with piss poor emissions management. Just look at coal burning and how much c02 is taken out via scrubbing, but oh no all the hippies and enviro twats scream it's all pollution when more than 80 % is just water vapor and steam, thank god I learned actual science in school. So in short suck a dick op you faggot.
