What you need to understand about a lot of these claims is just how bombastic they are. You're talking, in any pre-industrial society, about a world where 95% of the population is engaged in subsistence agriculture, with small, hermetically sealed communities defining most of the landscape.

The idea that there was any significant presence of blacks in Europe is absurd just on this basis alone.

Of course I'm sure you can find individual instances of Moorish traders but:

The problem with calling them a minority is that you make an implicit equivalence between their status in Middle Ages Europe and their status today, as huge, politically influential communities who have managed to take over many small towns and parts of larger cities.

As a European, this false equivalence is used to justify mass immigration. There are all sorts of stories you can read about how "London has always been multicultural" because they found the remains of a foreigner or something in a gravesite dig. It's like calling Shogun era Japan multicultural because of William Adams.

Europe circa 10th century, outside of conquered territories like parts of the Iberian peninsula was almost certainly 99.99999% white, as a result it makes no sense to have carefully hand-picked diversity casting for medieval european setting or medieval european inspired settings.
