You need to show your actual diploma when getting a job, some will do a background check.

Sales is different. If you sell and bring in money noone will care. If you piss someone off who is important they will use it to fire you though.

I was just a little confused because by showing transcripts you prove you have them, if they have to do a background check the employer has to spend more time on people who he probably won't hire

I've never met a sales manager that gave a shit about a hire having a sales degree. Sales is either you have it, or you don't. Even product knowledge is of marginal consequence.
