The times are passing but because of WW2 a LOT of vets really *really* hate Japs. Like one of my best friends growing up was Korean and we were shooting the breeze with an old dude at a wedding one day and this dude instantly knew that he was Korean and that some of the workers were Chinese and he didn't hesitate to explain that he could "pick a Jap out of crowd Asians with their backs turned".
