I don't really think society gave up on me or I gave up on it. I just think my life developed in such a way that I didn't develop the emotional intelligence to be able to deal with certain situations that a "normal" human being would be able to handle easily. I used to play guitar but it's been a while. The best thing you can do, if you can afford it, is to get a teacher (though I know that's the easy answer). If you can't, I'd suggest, as an absolute beginner, that you learn the basic chords to start off with. Don't bother with scales, or anything like that. Don't worry about technical stuff, not just yet, because it takes all the joy out of playing. Since you want tips on singing, I guess you're a singer, and if you can sing and play the basic 7 guitar chords, you can play an awful lot songs well enough to impress most people. I don't know if that advice will be of any use to you. I guess the only thing I can say is that playing for yourself is the best way to start, and there's no instrument more suited to that than the guitar. I went to a bar tonight where people blew the room away just by singing over basic chords with a few flourishes here and there. But definitely, if you have the free time, have a shot at it.

Absolutely. I suppose the problem is in finding the balance. Without social connections, personal growth is difficult to strive for. Sometimes you need someone to accept you just as you are, with all your imperfections, to give you the strength to achieve and grow as a person.
