What is stoping you from coming to a 3rd world country? I live

I don't want to get killed. Here in the US most people think going to Mexico, or at least outside the resort areas, means a high probability of getting killed. I'm sure the fears are exaggerated but we imagine Mexico as hell on Earth.

I would definitely go to Thailand though.
