Do you believe anyone can be successful with enough hard work and determination, and most people are just too lazy to achieve anything with their lives, or do you think certain people are inherently disadvantaged and doomed never to get anywhere no matter how hard they try?

The most important traits can't be changed past adolescence.
You are limited by the physical structure of your body. If you had bad genes or a bad upbringing, you're done.

A massive factor in being "successful" is having the ability to take large goals and break them down into smaller goals. Combine that with ambition, and the drive to keep your momentum going then you can achieve quite a bit.
It's not even that hard, you just need to something like get up in the morning and write what you goal is and how you'll work toward it today.

What is "successful"? You should care about your work/life balance and ask if what you're making is worth it.
Hopefully you have lots of free time, but it seems like a lot of higher paying jobs expect you to work at home as well, which would make me want to take a lower paying job that doesn't.
After all what's the point in having a lot of money if you're too busy to enjoy it?
