>>35135538
Buck up and do it, it's hard to make it entertaining which is why I make it my only focus.
It works pretty well.
Another thing I do is study in public, that way I can't watch youtube videos or browse 4chan without feeling judged, so I study instead.
>>35135609
I'm not really up for discussing the details in this thread because it would probably make it uncomfy.
I'm a NEET and spent 2 months in Japan last year.
Literally just buy the ticket.
I have nothing to say right now, so I post an image of art by nature.

Ask in the /trv/ thread and I'll reply with an image with a similar file name.
I don't really like /trv/ that much but I feel like it would be the best place to discuss it.
Doesn't this look rather /comfy/?
>>35135609
not that anon
however, if youre from one of a list of countries (dont remember it off the top of my head. Basically western europe and north america) you can go for 90 days iirc (365 if you have like 10 grand in the bank) without a visa.
Since im guessing money is the major issue there are schemes like workaway and WWOOF which let you volunteer or find work abroad. WWOOF lets you work on a farm (not really citylife) and workaway has all sorts of work you can find (a lot seem to want english teachers. Some are like "come live with us and speak english"). However, im not sure how suited to robots these would be since, well, youll be living with other people. I also havent done this so cant attest to how good it is, i only know about it. Your best bet would be /trv/

is it just me that find these threads kind of melancholy? I love them, but i always end up feeling a little sad afterwards.
A fire lookout I hiked to last summer.
I wish I had someone to stay the night here with.
sup /comfy/ im looking for an image that i got from this general probably 6 months ago but ive since lost it. its an image from some asian country, looks like maybe korea idk, and its basically like a row of houses/apartments/buildings all stacked on top of each other with like a BILLION signs. there has to be like 30-50 advertisement signs all hanging on top of each other. theres a crowded street towards the bottom of the image too IIRC
if any of you anons have it please post, thanks. gonna dump what i got

>>35137391
I only got to spend two days there. I went to England to visit my aunt and uncle years ago when I was young - too young to fully appreciate the experience but old enough to have it make a permanent impression.
They lived near Whitby and took us to see the abbey. I remember romping through the long grass around the gravesite area with their springer spaniel Butchie. It was overcast and a little chilly out. Afterwards we went to this pub in town.....they ordered me some milk that was room temperature and a potato with baked beans on it. Happier times....

Im english - i've gotta say whitby probably embodies the most stereotypical quaint english village vibe moreso than anywhere else in the country. It really is a lovely place.
>>35137612
I've always wanted to go to washington, or oregon. I've been to america once, and that was only to florida to do some toursity stuff. I'd kill to visit the pacific northwest, or the deserts down south

>>35137742
aye thats my problem. i can try to get more specific. it looks pretty old, like from the 70s or 80s. the buildings look wooden i think, and they stack on top of each other so tall that the sky isnt even in frame. it looks like a hot summer day because all of the windows are open. and the signs are all clustered together like right on top of each other, not spread out across multiple buildings.
your pic is somewhat similar to the way the picture is shot though, with the buildings kinda angling on a curve like that
>>35137562
you described probably half of the comfy images.

I'm a bit jealous, anon. Going there made me a permanent anglophile. I love english architecture, and the old soot stains on the outsides of the buildings. I love the weather - the overcast skies and dank air. And I especially love the countryside, like in your picture.
Somewhere along the Mekong River, Laos.

>>35137886
I've always been a little cynical of england - i've felt like we miss out on a lot of what a lot of what other countries have. We dont have any extreme weather - there are no HUGE forests like in the PNW, and it doesnt rain or snow enough to provide maximum comfy imo. Its really nice to see that some people love it here though. youve given me a newfound appreciation of my country

I'm glad anon. Your country has an intrinsic beauty that comes with age that we just can't recreate in the states.
I was riding a motor bike through the country roads of Indonesia when all of a sudden I got hit with a wave of nostalgia.
It was a sense of familiarity and tranquility for some reason. Even though I've never been to that place.
A sense of curiosity and freedom that I though I had lost.
A feeling that I feel like will come back some day if I keep looking.

>>35146293
lived there as an english teacher for two years
have plenty of stories, mostly of me just wandering on a clear, blue-sky winter's day through the back streets of Sumida-ku, looking for old curiosity shops and bookstores, stopping for lunch in an old mom-and-pop, maybe sitting down in the courtyard of a temple to take a break
something about the history of the country, the deep history, gives it a sort of melancholy, sleepy atmosphere that is hard to describe
as japan continues to modernize and westernize though, it is losing some of that
im kind of worried how badly the 2020 olympics will hurt the traditional showa / early heisei japan i came to love

If you don't mind elaborating please tell more.
It seems rather comfy cozy, at least out in the smaller towns. A sort of place that seems like it would encourage inner peace of sme sort. Do you think the city was comparable in any way?
>as japan continues to modernize and westernize though, it is losing some of that
That's quite unfortunate; I tend to abhor some of the western cultural values I have in my area, and it seems like a great loss to have that replace some of the atmosphere in places around the world like Japan.t. Illinois college student
Also, if I might ask, how was teaching there? Unfortunately I am thinking about going for the meme English degree and I think it would be quite rewarding to teach in a foreign country.
>>35146482
I think if you really want it you can find that inner peace anywhere anon. Some are easier than others, but I choose to believe you can.

quality comfy thread
this pic makes me nostalgic for the simpler times
>>35146583
the city can be just as quiet and serene, although of course in a busier way.
it just depends on your day-to-day i think
as an english teacher i had plenty of slow days or off days during the workweek and i could just walk around and read a book in a park, that kind of lifestyle could make any place comfy really
later i worked in a larger office as a proofreader and it was a 9 to 6 thing plus commute, definitely made me feel more stress

in case anyone was wondering what this was from:
http://www.effectgames.com/demos/canvascycle/
Really like this shot i took.
>>35147950
that's a good question
i started having escalating anxiety about living abroad. thought i might be "missing opportunities" in the US or risking becoming a permanent ex-pat.
i also got greedy, i hate to say. i didn't want to turn 30 as an english teacher in japan or even as a fairly low paid editor. i wanted to try to find a career with some capacity for growth and a significantly higher income
finally, it was just hard in some ways to live overseas. it was hard to be so far away from my parents all the time, it was hard to be immersed in a foreign culture that i knew, even with language ability, i could never truly assimilate to.
i dunno
tldr i wanted more from life than being an expat wageslave
the irony is that things haven't turned out so great back in the US for me either
>>35146365
Hnnnnnng it's so comfy. I want one day to be able to take photos like that
>>35130208
Why do Jap towns look so comfy? I'm not even a weeb or anything. Is it because they don't have much immigrants?
>>35149541
it's the density, combined with the cleanliness and the small scale of the buildings, plus i think some of the general japanese aesthetic (lanterns, kanji, vending machines)
in the west our densest areas are usually not so clean (compare japanese alleys lined with cafes and bars to manhattan alleys filled with trash and bums)
but you're right, a lot of it is because it's a safe and clean country even in the dense urban areas, which has (i think) something to do with immigration...but also something to do with economic stability and culture and police presence.
>>35149665
I agree 99 percent anon, I could make some long sematic/esoteric commentary on their economic stability but that's gay AF and I don't even entirely agree. A thing I really like about Japan is that after WWII they incorporated a lot of Western values that bettered their society, but didn't take ALL of it, they worked what was good and incorporable and made a unique and beautiful offshoot of western culture.
Sorry for the very shitty quality but this picture makes me feel quite comfy. I took it with my old cellphone during a walk. Can anyone guess where it was taken?
>>35137298
Whitby is one of my favourite places in England. Nearby there is somewhere even comfier though. I try to go once every few years in the depths of winter to avoid the tourists and enjoy the roaring fires, live music and howling winds.
Bridlington is pretty good too, and has the finest cod and chips in the world.
>>35150316
Boston. Your english is good so your language is not foreign, architecture looks not european. You could totally be in Canada but my guess is Boston.
>>35150825

My mother is from Hull so i'm up in that neck of the woods every so often. East Yorkshire is probably the most underrated part of the UK generally. Driving through the moors between Hull, Scarborough and Whitby in fog is an ethereal experience.

Really comfy song desu; the romantic crisis not so much. If it's any help, there's probably another potential romantic interest somewhere feeling exactly the same way you are, and one day you might end up feeling powerless together instead.
>>35154551
Yeah. Im actually seeing someone else currently.
Feels ahead:
It feels fucking horrible.
One day they talk about how great it will be to just be together holding hands in the summer sun, laying down in the grass near a lake close to their place.
Them sharing their excitement to finally be together soon.
Then, when the time arrives, for some reason, you are dead to them.
They found someone else, someone you never knew, and for some reason, they love them more.
Nevermind you had known eachother for 2 years, this person they met 2 months ago, they are in love with.
Then, there is nothing left to do.
Love is love is love, you can't argue or debate or change it.
You are dead to them.
This is the way it is now.
Accept it, or live in regret and remorse.
I chose the ladder.

How much would houses like this even cost? A ton?
They don't look to be especially thermodynamically stable, hence why they're probably always put in the desert for consistent temperature year round.
Looks like you could build that with just a lot of marble or granite over a concrete foundation.
Not sure how those pillars and ceilings are constructed though.
Fugggg if I win the lottery I'm building a house like this for maximum comfiness, 24/7

Oops here's the mix https://youtu.be/9CbpnNNMGgA

Yeah, these are expensive ass homes unfortunately. Not sure about the energy efficiency, probably not brilliant but since the weather is almost always dry, room temperatures in the upper 70's are quite tolerable (at least I think so) so you don't need to go overboard on air conditioning. I don't know anything about construction, sorry.
My dream house would have a similar kind of exterior pool and BBQ lounge, but a much smaller interior as I don't plan on having any children.
tfw no gf
how the fuck is this not original wtf

>tfw you will never experience the cyber comfy feel. Either you will be too old or it would just be 'normal' to you.
I wonder if people in the future will think about the 'new millennium feel', essentially fantasizing about our modern lifestyles today.
>>35159199
Not sure if comfy but cutie.
>>35159170
Haven't heard that one before, very classy anon.
Have some more plunderphonics:

What a depressing fucking thought.

3 More hours and I must sleep. Well a night of writing and comfy posting awaits.
>>35159358
Running out of cybercomfy, I'll practically have no fresh comfy left.
>>35159334
Unfortunately I would say it is bound to happen; just like some of our fantasizing about the past decades, we take the good (the aesthetics and music, etc) and then we imagine endless possibilities. What do you think they might focus on anon? Personally nothing is coming to mind besides the hipster cafes n maybe shit like that. Hell I guess the modern pics we post might be what they would like.
>>35159443
Kinda comfy, but I don't really like this picture desu.
>>35159461
Dear god we reached the image limit, successful comfy thread lads.

Yeah, I'm sure people in their young 20's in the 80's would have said the same thing about theoretical people in 2010's romanticizing the 80's.
