Anyone here like cars?
What's your favorite car? I don't go on /o/ a lot, but I'm into cars. I just can't afford shit.
The second I have garage space I'm gonna buy a 944 turbo and fucking ruin it by trying to maintain it myself. I look forward to having to figure out every fucking glitch and learning how to fix it.
If you want to maintain a machine yourself, consider a motorcycle. Much smaller and simpler, easily accessible engine and components, plus when riding you feel far more connected with your surroundings, and there's a higher chance of dying while riding it which is a bonus for a robot.
But for cars I've always wanted to do a road trip across the US in a 3rd gen Camero while blasting 80s music.
>>35014946
wow are you me? the 944 is my grail car, also looking to work on it myself except i have no experience, or money, or tools, or will to leave the house.
>>35015028
Truly it is the ultimate robot vehicle. If it were a transformer it would be a useless side character.
>>35014946
RX-7, I'm hoping to have one within the next two years. either that or an evo 3
>>35015089
welp forgot the image of the era i liked
>>35015089
I'd love to try an rx-7, I dunno what all the rotary hype is about. I hear you gotta basically re-build the engine every 60k. Maybe being in one would change my mind.
I really wanna do a cross country road trip in a 1970 Datsun 240z
>>35015156
yeah the wankel engine tends to be really finicky, but you could always do a swap or something if you don't like the idea of maintenance
>>35015185
datsuns seem pretty comfy
>>35015007
This. I used to be more of a car guy, but then I saw the light and have been a bike guy since. Still like cars, but I like bikes more.
>>35015185
second to the porsche 944 this is the other older car I'd like to have. I'd pay someone to restore and mod one like pic
my favorite car of all time is the Ruf CTR
but lately ive had a hankering for the Ferrari 328. im going to college to be an aircraft mechanic, and those in a managerial position make ~6 figures so if my life turns out alright a Ferrari 328 isnt that big of a deal.
however as for cars that are actually attainable for a student doing student jobs I wouldn't mind having a nice RWD japanese shitbox. There are too many to list cause I like all of them. I also like 90s japanese luxury cars.
>>35015280
Is it bad to still be interested in cafe racers? I remember those were cool as shit a few years ago but got got a lot of hate after.
>>35015331
i also wish to own literally any 80s japanese 2 stroke, pic related.
>>35015301
I like the colour of those wheels but not the style.
Im saving up to buy a toyota supra Mk2
Its my dream car and im really interested about getting into maintainace so i can install upgrades and swap shit out if i have to

At one point I came really close to buying a BMW E30
It's just so charming and comfy

I have this car now, it's my dream car but it's a huge pain in the ass, get ready for maintenance courtesy of Pontiac
What year?
>>35016376
I like these things. Cheap ish, new, fun. I hope they don't axe it.
>>35016399
Looking for an 87-92 with the 350. Yeah I'm getting ready for lots of broken stuff. I've got a corolla so I'll have something to fall back on every time it breaks
>>35016458
The new one looks like complete shit at least in the front part. I don't like the way it looks
>>35016376
You can probably put spacers in the seat
>>35016376
I forgot to post the picture of the new Toyota GT86
I have an autistic like of Xtra cab 1988 Toyota pickups. Although the grille from the 1986 looks better.
My own car is my favorite car, 87 medium yellow(jonquil) mustang (coupe).
"What car do you REALLY want" literally nothing except for a ls2 gto or a 2003 ws6 trans am. I would not have not have bought the car if I did not want it, why is that so hard to understand?
>>35016615
and no, its not because of back to the future.
>>35016646
>ls2 gto or a 2003 ws6 trans am
good taste
I need to get one of these to compliment my RX-8 (also my favorite car)
Rotary is love.
Rotary is life.
the vehicle i use to do failed normie things is a 2011 mazda 3. black with black plastidipped hubcaps (it goes faster with them). i love my little jap whip. i try to treat it well despite knowing less about cars than i do about women. which means i have negative knowledge about cars
to be frank you guys do have good taste but there is a tone i'm picking up that goes "i'd love to drive a modern american muscle car but that's so conformist and i only want to conform a little so here's something marty mcfly would drive out of a portal". it seems to saturate most other discussions like this on the internet. none of these really scream NEET
>>35016567
>>35016376
I like the 86 but new thats mustang gt money and I'd much rather have mustang
>>35016729
Just saw an rx8 this morning. Been months since I've seen one
>>35016525
Can't go wrong with late 3rd Gen my man. I warn you though, the shit that breaks is going to be the most retarded things you could imagine
I can guarantee you though that 1. You will have an exhaust leak, and 2. You will have to replace the trunk shocks. Don't ask why, but those are universal problems in these fucking things
Make sure you get the 5.7L and T-tops if possible
Never, EVER get a soft top, it will leak like a motherfucker
>>35016799
ok nevermind you guys posted good modern cars and a pickup since i refreshed.
"true robot car" is probably an oxymoron
>>35016799
Modern american muscle car? I'd like a challenger.
My mother drives an SRT-8. She will never let me drive that thing. Shame she never got the hellcat though.
>>35016895
Oh yeah, totally getting T tops. 5.7 with posi too. Probably gonna run some drag radials and glasspacks. I'm always tinkering with my corolla even though it's never broken so I'll be happy to work on one of these
>>35016803
I usually only see other RX-8s in parking lots.
I've only seen another one while driving a handful of times.
I love the look and feel it's a very fun car to drive.
>>35016991
>Shame she never got the hellcat though
Why? Do you want her to die?
>>35017075

>>35017109
Stupid question but what's the throttle feel like in these? I drove a 94 formula last year and I could push the gas at least two inches before it'd even budge. Might've been broken
Mine is 63 Impala. Want want so bad. Just classy and nice to cruise in

Yes. It's weird, when I was a kid I never understood the love for cars many guys had. Now it is one of the few major interests I have.
I wanted to buy a cheap hot hatch for commute and if I could afford it later on a fun weekend car. Instead my mom and step dad made me finance a 6 year old, over-sized, automatic sedan. FUCKING KILL ME M8.
>tfw 2.3L mazda 3 hatch

MR2s are notoriously known for rusting to shit. The guy I bought if from left it outside, uncovered, and in Seattle. After I checked and found minimal rust I felt like I was robbing the poor guy.
I just need to replace the rusted out muffler, and probably change the exhaust system just for shits and giggles and it'll be completely rust free.
>>35020503
Ford Fusion SE. It's certainly not a bad car, and I'm getting used to it, but I just vastly prefer the look and feel of older and smaller cars.
>>35020609

>Started servicing my own car so I don't have to talk to mechanics
I used to be really into cars, specifically japanese imports. But as I got older I learned the hard way the upkeep of a modified vehicle is too costly. Cars are a rich mans hobby unless you're a mechanic. I've owned

I really love seeing old cars, especially when they're "in the wild" and not just at car shows. All original creampuffs are the best.

I have pic related, and the circled portion of my bumper panel is sort of unattached from when I backed into my dad's truck like an idiot.
I can sort of push it back in and it's find most of the time, but kinda flaps around when I go faster than 45 mph and I'm sure it's not doing my mileage any favors.
Anyone have a guess as to how much it'd cost to fix? I've never had bodywork done before so I have no clue. There aren't any dents or structural damage so I'm kinda hoping they wouldn't have to replace it. Also that panel is plastic so it hopefully wouldn't be expensive anyway.
>>35021261
Ah I see. Personally my favorite pepsi variant is pepe 1893.
Anyways I personally prefer the 2nd gen mr2 but 1st gen is also really cool. Is rust nearly as big of a problem on the 1st gen as people say it is?
>>35020870
Jesus christ, why are cars so shitty looking nowadays? Are there any cool looking cars from the last 5 years in a reasonable price range?
>>35021363
Did you check the bumper clips to make sure they're all in? If they are you're better off just using JB weld to hold it on
>>35021485
Hmm I'll look into it, thanks anon. Sounds a lot cheaper than taking it in somewhere.
>>35021400
Oh god yes, the wheel wells will rot to fuck and the body is all steel so rust can be an issue popping up there. The engine bay also has slots on the hood right above it leading to water just dumping directly onto your alternator which is another issue.
If you're buying one it's a major factor to check, but not a deal killer if it's not anything you think you can fix with a little love. If somebody tries to sell you a rust free MR2 AW11 either they've recently replaced everything or they're lying.
