You can't blame guys for only wanting to fuck you if that's the only thing you're good for.

Their hobby is tearing out and stomping on your heart, leaving you a lonely, sobbing, emotional car crash.

I like horse riding but I haven't lived on a farm for 3 years now

Vica Kerekes for those who were wondering. Yes, she has been naked in plenty of films.

That's not really answering. Why is reading books not considered a worthwhile/"cool" hobby to have? Especially for women.

They read dumb dialogue-driven fiction for 13 year old teen girls exclusively yet post obnoxious memes on facebook about how reading girls are so smart.

They know nothing of modern research, science, geography, economics, or politics. They just read books about vicky meeting a hot guy but then she gets cancer :'( oh it's a sad story written by john green :'(
>>

If you do them in the garden and not in your own vagina, then yes.

Okay, but what about when their reading choices aren't what you're assuming? What about when by "reading books" they mean a variety of fiction and non-fiction, both academic and for fun?

Then fine. If they can actually hold a conversation about politics, media, science, geography, the universe, philosophy, etc. then it is an enriching hobby and a reason to be around them post-coitus.

Why are you chasing this so aggressively? Did you not answer your own question just now?

The point of this thread is that women's complaints about "pumping and dumping" are illegitimate due to the vast, vast majority of women spending 2 hours on make-up before they leave while having absolutely no interesting hobbies. They have nothing to do, nothing to talk about, and nowhere to go after you fuck them. In fact, most women look to YOU to be the "interesting" one who brings excitement to THEIR lives. Most women expect you to make all of the plans and pay for them too. If they don't have fun with your plans then they will dump you. If that is the case (and it is for the vast majority of western women), then is it any wonder that hot Chads just fuck them and leave? They have no reason to stay.

I read a research article by some kind of sexual psychologist whose theory was that the Horse represents the supreme masculinity that young girls do not fully understand yet. Their attachment to Horses is an expression of their early, confused sexuality. Horses are hypermasculine in every sense of the word, being tall, strong, muscular, fast, able-bodied, beautiful, and possessing a large phallus.

It wasn't the most convincing research article, it is just one theory. It was still an interesting read.
>>
>>35010314
We do, they're just generally not those which men would like i.e. playing video games or football or collecting weapons.
I mean, I wouldn't consider 'makeup' a hobby, but it's still on a par with video games.
If I sat and listed my hobbies you'd tear them apart just because you're uninterested.
Besides, you have evidently made up your mind about females already. Too many men look for another dude in a woman, and that's just not realistic.
>>
>>35011869
Exactly. It explains posters like >>35011039 who dismiss hobbies like knitting and reading just because they aren't masculine ones.

READING IS NOT HOBBY, it's an interest like playing vidya or watching tv.
>>
>>35012079
Well, a feminine woman probably would want a traditional, masculine male, which NEETs are not.

A regular guy with an office job who wants to start a family will have plenty of luck with feminine women. Which isn't necessarily a "Chad".

I'm a cyclist, painter, and I enjoy cooking and doing research on whatever piques my interest at the time. Pretty boring imo. I also like vidya, anime, and reading...I can't knit to save my life.

>>
To be honest I know quite a few women who have cool hobbies. Including dancing, playing instruments, film making, painting, foreign languages, wallclimbing, and even crossfit and working on motorcycles. Most of them are at a pretty high level to even semi-pro level.

They also have mostly hard science degrees, now that I think of it.

if you don't have a personality outside of your hobbies, you're just as boring of a person imo
>>
>>35012553
I didn't say you had to do anything at all, anon. Are you replying to the right post?
>>
>>35012559
How does a person not have a personality yet have interests and hobbies? How would they come across those interests in the first place? Why would they maintain interest in pursuing them if they had no personality?
>>
What exactly defines a "hobby"? It always just seems like whatever someone's into "doesn't count" as a hobby
>>
>>35012629
I'm guessing reading isn't one of your hobbies

>if you don't have a personality outside of your hobbies
>outside of your hobbies

which means that there is at least some portion of one's personality that goes into their specific set of hobbies and interests
>>
That is cool, the only thing I want out of a guy is a good dicking.

It's not like I care what he does in his free time so long as he is attractive, clean and doesn't live in squalor.
>>
>>35012650
a small horse or pony
>>
>>35012660
Sure, but what I'm asking is how, if the person already has the dedication to devote themselves to at least one pursuit like that, could they even lack personality otherwise?

I guess I'm asking for examples of people like this. Even NEETs have a personality outside of video games and masturbation, though it may not be an appealing. Who are the people who /don't/ have a personality outside of their hobbies?
>>
>>35012553
How many pilots are on /r9k/ anyways?

It really can't be that many.
>>
>>35012720
People who define themselves solely by what they're interested in are generally people I find boring. It's a consumption-based description of a person

Maybe I'm just saying this because I don't really enjoy anything enough to have a hobby, but the people I get along with are incredibly diverse in terms of their own interests
>>
>>35011341
tbdesu, whether it's good or bad depends a lot on the books.

>>35011405
these are wife material tier hobbies.
>>
>>35012842
Is it really consumption-based when your hobbies are productive? When you make your own beer, or garden, or sew clothing or compose music?

Even in your post, you're kind of defining those people by their interests ("diverse") though.
>>
>>35012953
If I say my friend group is diverse in terms of hair colour, I'm not defining my friends in terms of their hair colour. It's just a property they have.

>productive hobbies
These I can see some merit in, but still I believe too much emphasis is placed on it
>>
>>35012300
It doesn't make you interesting outside of sex.
>>
>>35013030
I mean, what else would you place emphasis on? Most people become friends due to similar interests, I'd think.
>>
>>35013058
I place emphasis on how they interact with people, a sense of humour, their willingness to hold a conversation, whether or not they're capable of looking at situations in abstract ways

all of which have nothing to do with interests or hobbies
>>
>>35012650
For me a hobby is defined by a skill requirement with a high mastery threshold, i.e. it's something that you can improve at by work over time.

There are plenty of traditionally female hobbies that clearly and happily fall into that category. Sowing, knitting, dancing, singing etc, and yes even makeup artistry.

It can get a little vague whether certain types of collecting is a 'hobby'. I wouldn't say that ordering prepainted weeaboo figurines direct from a manufacturer really counts as a hobby, but building and painting gunpla might. Someone that pokes around in old antique stores looking for a bargain might definitely be a hobby because they're refining the skills of search and recognition.

Is reading a hobby. I'd probably say no, because beyond the basic ability to read do you get better at it? Of course if you specifically cultivate your ability to read critically, or regularly discuss your books at a group or other are you really following a hobby of literary criticism and is that distinct from reading alone?
>>
>>35011468
>Tfw almost half the people in my econ grad program are female

>tfw neets on the internet still think they're superior
>>
>>35013231
Reading may not be one, but if antiquing is a hobby, surely book collecting is?
>>
>>35013231
What about reading books to learn about history? I'm all over WW2 since there's almost always something to learn, whether it's the autismally small detail of a tank sprocket to battle plans.
>>
>>35013276
Yeah definitely it could be. The point being that collecting goes beyond just passive consuming. If you're growing your understanding of stock, publication history, rarity, value etc. you're clearly developing a skill/knowledge base in a way laypeople aren't.
>>35013294
I'd say your hobby is really WW2 History or history in general, which you choose to pursue through reading.

But again this is just a personal view.
>>
>>35013057

To you. I find make up fascinating.
