How the fuck do I avoid having to slave away for thirty years

This is all there is to life. First you slave away at school where they try to iron out all the enthusiasm, love of life and individuality out of you, then you're a cog in the machine, doing your 9 to 5 drudgery until the cog breaks and they replace it with a new shiny one. By the time you're done with it all, you're either dead or too old, frail and apathetic to find enjoyment anywhere. If you weren't born into the top 1%, you're just going to be a random NPC in the main character's life.
