So /r9k/ what is your favorite anime and why?
My all time favorite is Madoka Magica. I've seen hundreds of anime but none has made me feel quite like Madoka Magica did. In 12 episodes it told a really amazing story that made me deeply feel for all the characters. Each episode progressed the story and I felt like every episode was pretty good.

In a move that will probably out me as the biggest pleb on the board, I have to say One Punch Man.
It may be because my anime consumption is extraordinarily low.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Laghan,
and it's sister Magical Girl serires,
Kill La Kill
Really, everything I've seen by Trigger is pure gold in my book.
I'm in the process of Madoka and NGE as well.
Shit hasn't hit the fan yet in Madoka, I've barely begun the series.Shinji was thrown into a shitty situation by his terrible father.

Only 3 people have favorite anime on this board?
>>34999772
One punch man was ok nothing wrong with not watching a lot of anime.
>>34999985
TTGL was really good. NGE is really good as well. Madoka actually was just great I didn't expect anything when I started watching it but by the end it was my favorite anime. I've rewatched it like 4 times now.

>Only 3 people have favorite anime on this board?
I don't have a favorite.
>>35000129
Well which anime did you really enjoy you must have some you liked a lot.
My favrotie anime is metal gear solid
homu is a good girl and she did nothing wrong
Black Lagoon is my favourite of all time with cowboy bebop being a close second
>>35000138
As long as a story isn't shit I like it. I don't particularly like any of the ones I like more than any other.
>>34999748
MD Geist for me
>>34999985
Check out the Getter Robo manga my dude. Both Kill la Kill and GL were heavily inspired by it.
>>35000164
I've actually never seen Black Lagoon but cowboy bebop is definitely up there for me as well.
>>35000266
I don't think I've ever heard of MD Geist.
>>34999748
Cowboy Bebop, ping pong is a close second though. Favorite manga is BERSERK and if it's impossible to create a faithful adaptation due to the level of detail in the artwork.
>>35000317
I thought the first anime adaptation of berserk was pretty good honestly.
RWBY because has introduced me to anime and i love it and love RT
>>35000356
Decent for the time but I'm a purest about it. Beyond the anime artwork clearly being inferior manga they skipped a lot of important fights in the 90s anime, chief among them the battle with Wylad.
>>34999748
Legends of The Galactic Heroes
It's an amazing space epic, and has a lot of great quotable moments.
Also Cowboy Bebop, Black Lagoon, Code Geass, Death Note, etc
>>35000418
I've never seen it. It honestly didn't seem very interesting to me but maybe I'm just judging it too hard
>>35000474
I can't watch things with 100+ episodes. I always feel overwhelmed when I look up an anime and see 100+ episodes. I might watch Black lagoon never seen it before and a few people mentioned it.
>>34999748
Claymore.
a very original commento
angel beats.
i cried during the last episode
>>35000536
It's worth seeing anon, trust me. If you're into this type of anime, the episodes go by very quickly. I think it's close to around 200 episodes in total. I really enjoyed it overall, and felt somewhat inspired after watching it. It's very smart and I haven't found another anime anything like it.
I also highly recommend Black Lagoon, it's just a fun anime all around.
>>35000575
That is a very good anime, I stopped at one point due to getting occupied with something. I might start it up again in the near future. Thanks for reminding me anon!
>>35000635
A lot of people tell me this one is good but I never ended up watching it.
>>35000474
I'm around 70 episodes deep at the moment, besides mild feelings that Yang is way too overpowered considering the disadvantages that come from working under the free planets alliance and later under the revolutionary banner I feel like the anime has dated poorly insofar as technology is concerned. Sure, the advances in space travel are scifi but the lack of any portable computer devices or flashier technology in daily human interactions is pretty bizarre, there are dozens of dialogue focused scenes in bars which wouldn't look out of place in the 1980s. I enjoy the political subterfuge and the scale of the battles is creates appropriate suspense but it does bother me that Reinhard Von Lohengramm the conqueror of the galaxy some 800 years in the future is getting his daily reports on fucking pieces of paper at an empty desk.
>>35000536
Ull Probably wouldnt like it but if you are gonna watch it, watch upto end of vol 3 (around 36 short eps) then decide to continue or drop
Also forgive first seasons anime style, just low budget
>>35000816
Yeah, it could be better. I think they might be remaking the anime actually. If they do I bet they'll fix those problems you mentioned, however there could be some sort of reasoning why they are getting their info that way. I feel like they could have explained it better.
Oh you think Yang is overpowered? It certainly seems that way at first. Keep going though, I certainly enjoyed it a whole bunch.
So many characters died though. Man in that anime almost no one is safe.
Production I.G. is doing the remake and it should air sometime this year.
>>35000806
its 10/10 but not for everyone
I don't feel like thinking about all-time favorites, at the moment I can't get these girls out of my head.
>>34999748
death note, although I've only seen 3 animes
>>35000952
>subtle reference that Yang the undefeated will face difficulty
looking forward to see what happens there.
You're probably right about the remake fixing the issues regarding the portrayal of a futuristic universe conquering human race. Granted, most of the issues I have with the portrayal of technology in the future come form watching the anime roughly 20 years after it was released. It still feels as though at bare minimum they would have reduced the importance of paper in military operations that far into the future.
>>34999748
I prefer Visual novels to anime, my favorite is muv luv and kara no shoujoi
As far as anime goes, eva, code geass, and dragonball i guess
>>34999748
Cattlehand Beep Beep
I really like the whole "running from your past" aesthetic, and the way that they pretend to be carefree while being moments away from a breakdown strikes me.
>>35001113
You make good point. They do sort of live weirdly in the galactic empire. They have all these badass futuristic space ships, but still dress sort of old style.
I'm really pumped to see what the remake does.
Code Geass, get ready for R3
>>34999748
Kaiji
So many great quotes. Very exciting and edge of your seat anime.
>>34999748
I probably have 10-20 or so that's a bit special to me. I'll pick Monster for this occasion though. I guess it resonated with my persona, and I love the atmosphere of Europe around the last days of the Berlin wall, it's very much as I remember it. Lots of interesting characters, probably the most even paced anime I've ever seen, excellent storyline that progresses fairly unpredictable, you dunno whether it's gonna turn out x or y.
>>35001171
I'm pretty psyched myself, if they can provide a modest cyber punk feel which complements the old fashioned royal aristocracy aesthetic of the galactic empire it'll be more than worth watching.
If I have to pick one and am going to pick one that hasn't been picked, then I'm going to say Beyond the boundary. It's incredibly cute and I was heavily invested in the main romance. The sad part was really sad and the end of episode 11 was really hype. And the art was gorgeous throughout.
Unfortunately I may be blinded by nostalgia for moments like the above, because I can't quite remember the secondary bad guy plot along with what most of the side characters were doing. Also, even though it is 12 episodes theres still time for a filler episode. So there's that.
>>35001349
Do you think it's going to be exactly the same or do you think they'll change the stories up a bit? I personally would like them changing the stories up a bit so loyal fans get a new experience, and that way people will still have a reason to watch the old ones.
Life should be wide.
>>35001436
I thought about watching this once but I ended up watching something else instead.
>>34999748
JoJo is pretty good in my opinion
