When did you guys realise that arguing things on this website is just a waste of time? Like, it's so pointless and frustrating. I know even browsing this shithole is worthless of my time, but when I remember when I was 21-22 I used to go into deep discussions in some boards here. Today I lurk 90% of the time;

What about you?

I think that everybody, deep down, is aware that arguing on this website, or on the internet in general, is a complete and total waste of time. No minds are ever changed, that's for sure. Like you said, though, the very act of being on here is a waste of time, so what's the difference if you're arguing, posting, or lurking? It's something to pass the time, at the end of the day, and keeps your mind engaged in something.

Honestly, for me, I feel like internet interaction with people keeps me sane, as I substitute it for personal interaction, being a shut-in who finds personal interaction extremely tiring.

Here for the memes famalam.

Makes me feel better about the situation

My point is that once you notice that, you become able to stop browing 4chan so often. It's how it worked for me. I come here like only 1 or 2 hours per day now and I consider that a lot of time.
>>
>>34970024
I don't agree with you at all, though. So I don't think that's necessarily the case.
>>
When you get to the point that you do random shit just for the hell of it and don't give a hoot because it doesn't matter

Using this board or site in general is just a waste of time, I lurk like 95% of the time because No matter how hard I try No one gives a shit about what I have to say or my opinions don't matter, no matter how many times I try to quit this site I always come back because even though I hardly fit in here, I don't fit in anywhere else so it's an esoteric kind of hell.
>>
>>34970089
I see a lot of people here get mad at small silly things and sometimes I worry about their mental health. Then I realise I can't do anything about it and whatever.
>>
>>34969771
Anon everything is a waste of time because there is no objective value in anything.
>>
>>34970157
Yeah, life has no purpose, but it doesn't mean you can't find something to live for
>>
>>34970125
Replying because i want to show you that I care about what anon has to say but there are a lot of factors which stop me from replying.
>tfw look up to faceless strangers on the internet more than practivally anyone
>>
>>34970396
What factors, anon?
>>
>>34970671
Like a said there are a lot and exceptions as I did reply. Ill just throw out a burstfire of general things
>anon arguing getting piled on by people who are obviously wrong, operating off misconceptions from the getgo
I read and soak it in but don't reply because more reasons like
>ignorant on the subject
>maybe afraid of angry replies
>it's already been a while since the post
>probably won't be seen anyway
>someone already posted my exact feel
I love how some anons are spot on
>don't feel like my sympathies are sufficient
ill just end it here
>>
>>34970924
I don't even know, when I'm going to reply to someone I just think "you know what, it's not worth it" and then i just close the reply box
>>
>>34971066
That is one I left out. I just care about all that stupid shit too. Bye

No minds are ever changed instantly, and certainly not in the middle of the usual highly antagonistic arguments had on here, but I've been exposed to ideas here and other places online that were cause to revaluate things that I believed.

My opinions and beliefs didn't change instantly, or overnight, but hearing what other people have to say and exposing yourself to ideas you would not come up with yourself certainly does have an influence on you.

Do you think you have it all figured out because you are 23?

I actually learn a lot from arguing on 4chan about general trivia and my own and other peoples characters and beliefs, recently I've started just looking up the sources for every fact I or someone else posts and it's really interesting the way in which they've been arrived at or just manipulated to fit an agenda

now I can basically be in 100% control of a normie conversation irl because I know the response to everything they'll say which is usually the most generic shit that would get you rekt instantly on here and I know exactly why they're saying it too from analyzing all the surprisingly intimate and honest interactions on here, it's great

Also,
Did you actually know I'm 23, or were you just guessing? I'm impressed either way.
>>
>>34971326

I actually meant to include OP's post in that reply, and since he implies that 21-22 year are immature I went out on a limb and assumed that he is 23. I was half expecting him to correct me that he is in fact 25 or something as if it matters.
>>
>>34971421
OP here. I'm actually 29 almost 30. Only now I'm starting to get my shit together though

Fair enough. I have a couple years on you, but apparently reached different conclusions about this place. So it goes.
