Notes are good as you8 can talk freely, you don't get stuck while trying to read a phrase off the paper.
And for the background go somewhere with good lighting, then the video will appear more professional.

I've made plenty of youtube content across different channels and I've learned this:
DOn't make videos that are in a completely over saturated genre. Theres way too many let's plays on youtube and they are all extremely similar. I suggest you should do something different with it if you want to do gaming videos. Make sure your channel does something that stands out from the millions of lets plays on youtube.

LPs are shit. Just talking over media other people have made is one of the most worthless forms of content.
Even fucking Elvira and MST3K had a writing team and put work into their commentaries. There's a few issues with this. I won't be mean.

First off:

LPs are not the instant popularity/cash cow they once were. They're mostly for kids now and kids watch Minecraft and Roblox and all that shit. Streaming is where you go for the older audience. It is possible to build a channel, but not like you're doing, I'm afraid. Getting kids to watch these days is nigh on impossible because they all watch what their friends watch so they have something to talk about at school and shit. That market has been covered well and truly by now.

You've taken the "childrens entertainer" role (I'm not sure if you intended this, but it is blatantly for kids). It definitely doesn't appeal to late teens / young adults. However, I look at your games, and they don't match up with this role. You have your Undertale, sure, and that fits. But you also have Destiny, and Fallout 4, and Shovel Knight

There's a bit of an identity crisis going on.

You've been doing this for a year now, and your highest viewed video doesn't break 2000 (not to mention the pretty poor 75 subs). I think you need to go back and re-evaluate your content. Either change your style, or change your content because it doesn't work.

Yes, in a sense. I used to make a ton of unfunny skit videos, but I restarted the channel a while ago with the intention of making serious(but fun) sword and throwing videos. It went alright for a while, but my serious videos really lack personality, and many people were uninterested.

I made Jard-kun to mess with the Re:Zero general on /a/ a while back, but everybody loved it. I kept making more and now I'm here. I'd say that out of my 200 subs, 150 are from Jard-kun. I'm in an awkward situation where my Jard-kun fans don't care about swords, and my sword fans don't understand/like Jard-kun. I suppose I should just appreciate that I can make both types of videos which I enjoy for different reasons, but if one side exploded in popularity I'd focus more on it.
