I would literally spend the whole day laying down and watching braindead public tv shit, so this is the better alternative no matter how much i hate it here.

Imagine that you had two buttons. One gives pleasure, another gives pain. Motivational system makes you feel good about actions that have positive outcomes and anxious about actions that have negative ones. Normal person would be eager to press the pleasure button and avoid pressing the pain button.

When you are depressed you believe life is shit and is going to be shit forever. For depressed brain the pain and pleasure are just steps in action sequence that always leads to negative outcome. No matter which button you choose to press, you are always going to feel anxious about it. Thats why doing anything at all is so hard and energy consuming when you are depressed. Thats why you end up doing nothing and lose all joy from life.

I just realized what my shrink meant when he said that depression isnt real. Now I dont know how to feel.
