The golden age of r9k was probably 2014, before gamergate. GG and the fappening really changed this website and a lot of new people flooded in.

Late 2015 and all of 2016 was when the alt-right gained mainstream attention and some people worked out the memes went back to /pol/. I think people will look back on 2016 as the golden age of /pol/ when /pol/asks actually had some influence on the US election, which is insane.
