>Friend helps with a math problem last night over text
>Was busy so I couldn't thank him
>Messages me asking if I got the problem today
>Tell him "Yes lol"
>He texts in verbatim "Did I help any? Despite being an adult man I need validation and assurance that my actions had any worth."
H-how am I suppose to take this?
What did he mean by that?

Kerbumperoo
>>34916122
>needing help with math
>replying with "lol"
>receiving a beta response like that from a 'friend'
get the fuck out
>>34916507
>Only people allowed on /r9k/ are those with >150 iqs
>>34916573
That's not what I was implying.
>>34916617
Only geniuses don't need help at math at any level.
>>34916122
That sounds like the kind of thing I would say to someone. He just wanted you to say thank you so he knows he was helpful and didn't make things any worse. Not saying thank you might have made him think you didn't understand what he was saying or that the advice didn't help. He's probably been agonizing over the entire exchange since it happened.
>>34916661
how fucking dense are you ? He was implying that OP is a girl, and the friend is an orbiter.
Also, I never needed any help in math, and I am no genius
>>34916122
and you learn to say thanks you fucking faggot, being busy is no excuse, saying thanks takes less than a second you ungrateful dumbass
It was a passive aggressive sarcastic way of him telling you "Say thanks, dickwad"
I know because I'd type the same thing. He's being ironic and cheeky in a way only the same kind of person would understand and appreciate
He has non-meme autism. Just indulge him and remember that he needs praise in future.
>>34916122
>Was busy so I couldn't thank him
Texting him "Thanks" would have taken less than 5 seconds you ungrateful fuck. He's too fucking good for you.
>>34916841
this, i'd never type that kind of thing and i still got it, if you could actually help anyone about anything you'd know how good it feels to be thanked you ungrateful good for nothing
OP here I'm the friend, it was a ruse.
My friend asked me if I was okay after I said that, I just told her it was sarcasm, didn't say why I said it.
I'm "that guy" now aren't I
>>34917068
she did not get it, you're 100% "that guy" now
better luck next time fag
>>34917068
Wow. Delete her number and never speak to her again you royally fucked over any friendship she had with you
>>34917170
I sent her
>Wait did you get my last 2 texts last night where I posted a pic of part of #5? I probably sound more insane than joking if you didn't
To back track, never had anyone ask if I was okay after saying something
>>34917214
>mfw we sit next to each other in class and it's 3 months from over
>>34917236
also avoid being ironic via text due to poe's law
>>34917236
>anon you've been a little dick lately I'm going to start studying with Chad
>>34917263
This place has ruined me in those regards, that's going to be hard.
Did I at least soften up the blow in the follow up text? My semester is borderline ruined if not, I kinda have to sit where she is due to shit vision.
>>34917328
She basically already does that via tutors and has a bf, she's just a friend but I don't have many friends (wonder why #wow #whoa)
>>34917236
>Being involved with women
anon..
>>34917236
u dun fuk'd up.
there is no way to recover.
try not to spill your spaghetti in class and understand that this girl will never be a real friend. she'll forever see you as being a beta that she can take advantage of.
>>34917482
>>34917468
Oh, oh no.
At least she's graduating this semester.
Also still no response. This is it.
>>34917400
what did you say, i might be able to help
and why do you think people use ":^)" ?
>>34917557
First greentext in>>34917236 after she asked if I was okay and I said "Lol just sarcasm I'm fine".
>why do you think people use ":^)" ?
Because their autism is tamer than mine.
She just said she was gonna check, should I send it?
>>34917618
adding anything by message is a bad idea, as that would show you are panicked, try acting like it's no big deal and say stuff like "i'm fine really" in person while smiling
>>34917759
Good point, read your post before making the last msg I sent, thanks, this isn't so bad.
>>34917923
ay that wasn't so bad, don't spill your spaghetti too much next time you see her and it should be ok
>>34918129
I'm pretty comfortable, if a lot more quiet, around her in person so I think I'd be okay. 4chan has made me a certain way over text, probably should wean off of it
>>34916841
>"he's being ironic and cheeky in an autistic way only the same kind of an autism person would understand and appreciate" corrected it for you.
>>34917068
just read this. weww lad
