"Chastity is the flowering of man." -- Henry David Thoreau

All you mopey >tfw no gf robots need to be reminded on this day, of all days, about the joys of going your own way. I am nearly 50 and I have neither wanted nor needed a woman to "complete me" during my life. My money and my time are my own to do with as I please. I have a giant beard down to my chest, I smoke a stinky pipe, and I scratch myself where and when it itches; I have a big belly and I have a selection of vintage fedoras which I enjoy wearing. The only person I need to impress is myself, so I can dress and act as I please without worrying about how I look to others. I am a free man.

I don't hate women. I don't resent them or feel they're inferior or think they're all skanky hoes. I simply feel no attraction to them. I wish them well and hope they find all the victims they desire -- I simply don't wish to be one of them. If you are free from entanglement, robots, celebrate your freedom! Go your own way without rancor or regret and pity those whose lives are dependent on the sexual largesse of others.

Ok but sex deprivation has been clinically proven to cause depression in men. And, as science will tell you, depression literally slows down every circuit in your brain and makes it pretty difficult to accomplish anything.....
>>
>>34864356
All of the greatest thinkers and doers who have ever lived have been celibrate or sexually frustrated, robotfriend. From Siddhartha Gautama to Isaac Newton to Henry David Thoreau to Nikola Tesla, men going their own way have accomplished incredible things and pondered the deepest mysteries. Celebrate your chastity and be great!
>>
>>34864410
How the fuck did they cure their depression so they could accomplish something? I'm a hard worker even when I'm depressed but I would love to come across some method of healing the depression a little bit. It's so difficult and sometimes I get intrusive thoughts about shooting myself
>>
>>34864443
One of the theories of depression (depressive realism, if you want to look it up) is that its function is to remove a filter which makes the world irrationally pleasant to everyone else, and is triggered by feelings of being trapped. It's thought that it evolved as a way of giving you the best, most accurate possible data so that you can escape whatever it is which is trapping you. As soon as you stop feeling that going your own way is some kind of curse or punishment, the depression will lift because you'll no longer feel trapped.

I think it's rather telling that the only thread in r9k which isn't full of self-pitying whining by Millennials is completely ignored.

What about wanking? Does the body know the difference between a wank and sex?
>>
>>34864735
I find this to be an interesting topic, if anyone knows of studies relating to this, please share.

Personally, a good wank relieves stress and allows me to focus after. Isn't that similar to sex? not that I'd know.

>>34864410
I think this is a highly cherry picked list, and it goes completely against my anecdotal evidence. Pretty much every successful person I've known has had gfs or is married, and I work in tech. I seem like the sole exception due to intense social retardation. I can't see any robot looking types anywhere in sight IRL.
>>
>>34864692
I'm just curious, how old are you? A lot of people use Millennial disparagingly here, but I don't see how the board demographic can be that old. I thought most people here were in their 20s, but maybe I'm wrong
>>
>>34865018
Sure, people with ordinary, every-day levels of success have ordinary, every-day romantic relationships. But the truly brilliant have *always* made their own sexual rules, whether that means being a scandalous pervert or being completely chaste. Going your own way means forgetting about social conventions and doing as you please.
>>
>>34864258
You have no family and no one will be there when you die.

So?

>>34865183
You're an idiot. I've been posting here for years. Pic related: me.
>>
>>34865129
The overwhelming majority of influential scientists have been married, you have to cherrypick to find exceptions (how you like that one?). I'm not trying to disparage your point, I think you can be whatever you want and still be successful, but being successful is a result of a combination of genetic fitness and environmental opportunity, not a sexual choice, as these choices are rarely made consciously. I don't think those people you listed were great because they were celibate, I think they were great because they were geniuses who were at the right place at the right time.

>I have a giant beard down to my chest, I smoke a stinky pipe

I remember you, you posted before and used that "stinky pipe" phrasing. I'm glad to see you're alive I guess.

Sounds like you're just asexual.

Miss Peregrine aside, smoking a pipe is a very masculine thing. Women do not, as a rule, enjoy the smell of tobacco, nor do they understand the solitary and ruminative joys of reaming, cleaning, packing, tamping, and smoking a pipe. Women have their own virtues and their own realms of experience, but they are excluded from the circle of certain male pleasures -- like smoking a pipe.

Why are you trying to console failures?
Betas are typically unaware they are beta. Trying to make them feel as if being beta is okay, is not okay. Don't lie to them and tell them it's okay when it's not. No point in waving it in their face and all but lying to them about the truth of it is just as bad.
>>
>>34865326
I came here to give you a (you) Anon, because this was a good post.
>>
>>34865467
Because they're not failures, and going your own way is as alpha as it comes. People who are capable of standing with their hands on their hips and laughing as the world condemns them for refusing to bend to expectations are basically superheroes.

To quote Robert Frost:

> Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
> And sorry I could not travel both
> And be one traveler, long I stood
> And looked down one as far as I could
> To where it bent in the undergrowth;
>
> Then took the other, as just as fair,
> And having perhaps the better claim,
> Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
> Though as for that the passing there
> Had worn them really about the same,
>
> And both that morning equally lay
> In leaves no step had trodden black.
> Oh, I kept the first for another day!
> Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
> I doubted if I should ever come back.
>
> I shall be telling this with a sigh
> Somewhere ages and ages hence:
> Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
> I took the one less traveled by,
> And that has made all the difference.

I do. When I was young, my parents taught me to be a pacifist. I'm 6'5" and the size of a house, and my parents taught me that I was never to raise my hand to another person because I could seriously hurt them.

Then we moved beside the projects, and I started getting beaten up. The beatings became so frequent and so bad that I eventually required a police escort to and from school. That was when my father asked me for a list of the kids who beat me up most often, and invited them to our house for hot chocolate and cookies. He asked them why they beat me up and they said, a) I didn't fight back, and b) I never snitched, so why wouldn't they?

That night my father -- who had been an amateur boxer -- took me down to the basement and told me I was going to learn to fight. And when I said I didn't want to, he punched me in the face. As I lay crying on the floor I asked him why he'd hit me and he said, "If you'd had your guard up, I couldn't have hit you. Put your hands up."

And that was how I learned to fight -- and how I gained a lifelong hatred of bullies. I've spent the entire rest of my life as a community organizer fighting cops, politicians, shitbag capitalists, and anyone else who thinks he's the boss of me.

So yeah, I remember getting beaten up and not doing anything about it. Best thing that ever happened to me.

And how many of these female smokers smoke a pipe? Smoking a pipe is a very different experience from smoking a cigarette. It's pretty clear you've never smoked a pipe -- but you should.
>>
>>34866878
How many men wear makeup and suck dick? Sucking a dick is a very different experience than being with a woman. Few men understand the silent and ruminative joys of having another mans balls pressed against his chin. You should be more open to exploring feminine realms of experience, Anon.

My first time coming across the antibuddha was in a thread on LSD. He was staunchly against all forms of psychedelics as the insight they offered was not objective information. Interesting character. Seems to have actual autism, not the kind we joke about.

>are basically superheroes.
what you're condemned. you're lucky you don't simply die a cruel misfortune prone death being an outcast
there is nothing heroic about that
you don't fit in, and when you do it's looked down on because you're one of 'those people' literally nobody wants to be treated that way

you're telling people it's okay to be beta and choose to be a loser outcast and generally just make your life far more unpleasant and less productive with a lot less gain in any material or social sense of the word
you practically have no reason whatsoever to be alive when you're an outcast you're not setting some proud example you're just choosing to have a shit life and are accepting people are going to try to treat you like shit and expecting it as if it's a positive thing when there is no silver lining to that cloud
>>
>>34865716
>so why wouldn't they?
Ouch. This sums up a lot in my life.

I've given up on pacifism at this point, and as much as I don't like to admit it, it's helped, along with not taking other people's crap in general.

I organize unions for hobos and street workers, and I'm currently renovating a building to act as a cultural centre to celebrate hobo traditions. Hobos were the OG robots; they went their own way and didn't give two hoots what anyone else thought of them. They held to their own code, lived the way they wanted to live, and learned how to evade police when the "normal people" sent them out to punish them. (Pic related: the project I'm working on, the Utah Phillips Centre for the Hobo Arts.)

Once you get over the idea that the world is fair or just, you can start taking practical steps to do whatever you have to in order to live the way YOU want to live and not the way you've been told you should want to live. That's why I started this thread; today of all days, people here are all self-pitying because >tfw no gf. I'm here to tell you that you can have a glorious, happy, thrilling, adventuring, meaningful life if you stop trying to live the way other people do and simply fly your freak flag high and proud.
