Functional alcoholic thread
It's the "I swear those bottles just for decoration" edition
>What are you drinking?
>What did you do to earn that drink?
>How many liquor bottles do you have laying around your living space?
Or just stop in to preach your drunken thoughts.
I'll start
>Cheap brandy (E&J VSOP to be exact)
>Finally finished a 60 hour work week, and am ready for my only day off. LP
I used to drink about 1/5 of a handle of 40% 80 proof a day.
How much brain damage do u get from doing that about a year?
I had a few margaritas while assembling a treadmill alone in my basement, what a Saturday night!
For me, going 48 hours without a drink is major achievement, I didn't have anything to drink all day on Thursday so that was basically the go ahead signal to drink as much as I want all weekend.
>>34810182
I'll let you know in a year
I've drank mouthwash. 23 and I'm still drinking lemon extract from walmart
Drank til drunk tonight. First time in 2 weeks, feels okay. I feel in relative control.
I'll say quit if you can. Im 32 I only slowed down after my body made me. I was a drunk all my 20's and it took an embarrassing moment and the awful symptoms of dts to make me cut back.
>>34810325
How often would you say is too often? For me it's usually about every 3 days of getting moderately drunk. But I have noticed the urge to drink getting more common.
>>34810314
I'd recommend Jagermeister, has that minty sour flavor you seem to be looking for.
>>34810485
i love jager, i dont think anyone drink yellow listerine for the flavor
>>34810066
> PBR (not hipster just cheap brew >5% abv)
> Made it to another weekend
> 3 or 4
>>34810402
That's an impossible question holmes, unless you wanna tell me why you are drinking and how much and social setgings.
But I would say three times a week might lead to 5 times a week, so slow your roll if you can. Im not here to judge you, though.
Hahahaha.
I have big boxes full of empty cans stacked to the ceiling.
"just for decoration"
Wine is the best drink to get drunk with. Second only to vodka mixes.
>>34810554
Wat? Don't fucking Norman out on me now. I got in here bc I was promised an alcoholic thread. If you are not drinking nightly then gtfo.
>>34810554
>80 proof brandy, scotch or vodka
>Always alone, except during the spring and fall where I go to a college party almost every weekend.
Ironically when I have a party to go every weekend I drink less.
>>34810594
>Started of drinking half a bottle of Chardonnay a week
>Here I am killing half a fifth of brandy every couple of days
I still buy wine every now and then to slide into some random bitches pants.
What are you fellas doing now that you're nice and saucy?
>Don't have to be up til 5pm tomorriw
>Probably gonna alternate between playing Life Is Strange and watching commercials from the early 2000's til around 6am
>>34810066
>single malt whisky
>by pretending to be a normie
>not as many as I would like
I only get to drink a single day of the week, still my family labels me an alcoholic, I just want to be left alone.
>>34810628
How much tho. The sign of becoming a real shitbag is when you need more than fifth to get drunk.
My worst was one litre of whiskey or vodka a day. Dts are real scary. But I understand using alcohol to cope.
>>34810817
I know how you feel, I used to go through maybe 1 bottle of wine a week. And even then my grandma thought I was drinking too much.
>>34810820
I'll go through maybe 2 fifths of whiskey or brandy a week. I've never felt any withdrawal symptoms yet, the only thing I can really say is my hangovers make everything feel dreamlike and foggy
Drinking wouldn't be my first choice to cope with stress, but unlike my friends I can't smoke weed or have sex whenever I want it so I'm stuck with the booze.
>>34810066
Bacardi gold rum 40%, about 400 ml per night. Sometimes a six-pack of whatever the cheapest beer at my campus' grocery store is.
Did nothing to earn it.
Only 3 bottles right now. I haven't figured out that I need to build up a stockpile. I basically buy as I drink, so I'm runnig to the liquor stote once every 2-4 days.
>>34810979
I didn't start getting bad hangovers until about 28 and they got progressively worse up to the point of debilitating in my early 30's that's when I had to curb my shit to weekends.
Like you I was using it to cope. I was physically rebuffed as I hit my 30s and probably nearly died. I would say try to find a way to get on meds. I know it's not easy. Do what you must, stay strong my dude.
Only got this shitty wine to get drunk off. Hate wine but whatever gets me drunk. Wish I had some vodka, also hard to drink but gets me fucked up fast. How much did you have to drink before the taste became tolerable?
>>34810066
going to skatepark tomorrow, going to drink 3 IPAs and smoke some hash bois
Drinking a 4-pack of Smirnoff Ice I found in my front yard. I have theories on how it got there. It's barely alcoholic but it tastes okay I guess. Normally I just drink Crown Royal or whatever I can get. My official job title is "systems administrator" but I do pretty much everything computer-related at work. One of my duties is turning on the printer because nobody else knows how. I did clwan up my mess pretty recently, though. Got the kids on weekends so I figured I should finally pick up what I could. I don't even like liquor. I just drink because I'm too weak to kill myself but I don't want to wake up tomorrow.
>>34811655
Shitty wine is an excellent starting point, I'd recommend going after some flavored vodka first. Svedka can be pretty cheap (20 dollars for a 1.75L where I live) or if you really want to save cash a big jug of Barton's (very cheap nasty vodka) and OJ will run you about 12 bucks total. If not vodka I'd go for scotch,/bourbon/whiskey. They taste pretty good and the spice will make you drink it slow enough to get used too.
>>34811726
Smirnoff ice is delicious honestly, if it weren't for me trying to show off to my friends by drinking nasty ass beers, I'd drink it at every party I went to.
I'm assuming you have joint custody with an ex spouse? How old are your kids, Do they respect you at all or are you the resented parent?
I feel you on the wanting to die part. For me it's more like "what else is there to do?" Instead of sadness. I've been in love, I'll never be rich, I've graduated, and my passion is writing. I'm supposed to do nothing for the next 60 or so years? I would kill myself right now if it wouldn't hurt the people around me. But I figured if I'm childless by 30, I'll end it there. If I have my own family then I'll wait till 60 but that's the latest.
>>34810066
>Rolling Rock, and Evan Williams
>Worked all week, weekend off
>Too many to count
>>34811907
It's not bad. I'd rather just drink actual liquor and have soda on hand to chase it with.
>I'm assuming you have joint custody with an ex spouse?
Yeah. Two oldest are by my ex-wife. Only girl I ever loved. Third was an accident after I drank too much one night after the divorce, and a condom broke. That woman decided to keep it for whatever reason.
>How old are your kids
4, 2, and 6 months.
>Do they respect you at all or are you the resented parent?
The oldest loves me, I don't think the other two are old enough to think much of me. You're barely aware of what's going on at that age.
>For me it's more like "what else is there to do?" Instead of sadness.
I'm just tired. It's been so long since I wasn't like this that I barely remember what it's like. It's like as soon as I hit puberty a switch was flipped and I went from "mostly okay unless bad things happen" to "fucking miserable".
>>34811941
Overworked bros! What do you do? I work in a restaurant, but since I have to best voice (and either because I'm a pushover or I know how to deal with people) whenever there's a complaint I'm always the one to deal with it.
>>34812106
Hey man, everyone's tired. I'm pretty sure if you asked the entire population if they would give up without mentioning the word "dying" way more than half would accept, dying has some nasty connotations with it. Now if you were childless I would say go with it. But as shitty as it sounds, your life isn't your own. You belong to everyone who looks up to you, or looks to you for guidance, aka your kids. Whether or not they understand it yet. Even the younger ones. Nobody wants to grow up saying "my father killed himself" it's a bitter phrase that tastes bad no matter how close you were with your father. Do what you can, if you can't live for yourself, at least try to find the strength in living for your children.

Yeah, I know. I just feel like I'm drowning. Just all the time. But I have to be there for them, and then they'll be in college so I'll have to be around to help pay for that. Then they'll be married and the grandkids will be coming and I've gotta be there for them. I'm not even 30 yet so I'm in this for a long time. Going by the rest of my family, probably about 60 years. My grandad drinks like a fish, smokes like a chimney, and he's in his 80s and doesn't look a day over 50.

what the fuck? I drink nasty shit like steel reserve bottles daily and a few years ago it was cheap vodka. I know this is dumb but I didn't know side effects was seeing or hearing shit? I've been hearing knocking and voices randomly and it's scary. no way man wtf
>>34813281
If it's a "collection" and not just "I don't want to have to carry all these bottles in front of someone" situation then you should be fine.
