I had interest in various notorious criminals before Elliot, mostly serial killers.

Elliot specifically is unique for many reasons, he's basically the one with the largest online presence, some previous killers left behind something like a piece of writing, but nothing like My Twisted World, and nothing like a full YouTube channel and forum posts.

He was just another 22 year old growing up in the 90s, and apart from the obvious mental issues, he was basically a normal relatable person who wasted his teenage years on MMOs etc. So I can certainly relate to some extent.
