Drinking more water (as well as eating less sodium and more potassium) decreases water retention and makes water drain out of your face so that it looks less puffy and fat.

Sleeping on your back stops your face from getting puffy overnight

Don't know exactly what it is that makes it puffy (blood?) but sleeping on your back does help make your face look more slim. Just a bit less comfy sometimes, but you'll put up with it.

And obviously water works
