How do you grow balls?
I've wanted to ask out this girl for two weeks now and every time I've tried I just can't.
Until today. I finally got the nerve to knock on her door (she lives in the same apartment complex as me.)
Thank GOD she wasn't there, because I immediately stopped salivating, my palms trembled, and my heart rate hit at least 120bpm. I would have looked like the most beta bitch ever.
That or she looked through the peephole and saw my ugly face and decided not to open the door.

Look at it this way... EVERY girl you ask out from now on is just practice for the one you REALLY want to ask out. So ask away. Learn what works, what doesn't. Realize that when you are desperate (for a date, a job, an apartment, a car) it shows. Get over that desperation and get used to asking/negotiating smoothly and with confidence.
