Well what hobbies do you have in mind.

My hobbies are fencing, Ju Jitsu and tabletop games/board games RPGs that sort of thing.

So they're all pretty social and have made friends because of all of them. Even if its not directly related if it comes up in conversation alot of times alot of people start showing interest or showing a desire to get involved.

Even if you're hobbies are painting or something some solitary pursuit there's classes and gallery events etc to network.

Guitar could be a good way to socialise. I have a friend who's a busker and it opened my eyes to how much of a network busking actually is. Here at least. They have events and stuff.

With fencing find a club near you and get stuck in. I hope you get even 1/10th as much as I've gotten out of it over the years. I do Historical European Martial Arts mostly these days so keep an eye out for those clubs too. You might be lucky and have a club very near you.

As for tabletop games there is two gaming clubs within reasonable distance from me but honestly I rarely go to those and I just groomed some friends I already have into a regular gaming group but if you have a friendly local game store there's probably Friday Night Magic at the very least. Magic can be pricey but find a game you like and hopefully there's a competitive scene near you.

If I joined one it would be for X Wing the Miniatures Game I fucking love it and it's pretty affordable and the most popular game right now I'm told.

If you're interested in RPGs like DnD there's often hook up threads and things and it's pretty common for groups to accept strangers to join. It's sort of a tradition. I wouldn't be comfortable with that personally but i go to events once or twice a year to get lots of games in with strangers and have made some friends that way.
