> the third place (or third space) is the social surroundings separate from the two usual social environments of home ("first place") and the workplace ("second place"). Examples of third places would be environments such as cafes, clubs, public libraries, or parks.
tl;dr: my third place is a McDonald's in central New Jersey. I barely eat any of their food but I am there a lot.
This cool secluded spot in the forest in my uni
I've only ever seen one person there
I dont care much about my third "places" as long as I am completely secluded and isolated
>>34759943
My third place is between my toes.
>>34760130
i had a spot at college....it was near an indoor swimming pool, there was a vent with a very light chlorine/eucalyptus smell. in the winter it would pump warm air out 24/7 and some nights I'd sit there above it, kind of meditating.
I went to Purdue.
I don't even have a second place though so how could I have a third one?
>>34759943
Fuck, I need a third space.
>>34760220
Sounds comfy. I just really wish there were more secluded spots on campus... and I live in a fucking forest
It's as if the uni is actively trying to remove even the possibility of seclusion
>>34760220
>>34760239
here's the location....still there. that building is like 90 years old.
the vent is on the right where the cross hairs of the cursor are.
>>34760228
>>34760231
technically, for both of you, it's the internet, but you should probably have a physical location you go to just to meditate or check the internet.
I'll suggest starbucks or somewhere with free wifi.
>>34760130
I had a similar spot back when I went to school
I would go out between classes and watch anime/movies on my laptop
It was very relaxing
A tree. I go and sit on or next to it and daydream every day for the past few years.
File too large, gonna crop and post it
>>34760404
that's the tree. I switch between the bench and it and spend around 1h on it each day
>>34760446
I'm also very retarded kek
An old motorboat up on a trailer. I sit at the bow smoking, drinking coffee, and listening to music
>>34760524
comfy!!!
how often is someone else already sitting there?
>>34760541
pretty much never actually.
Lucky me, now that I think of it
>>34759943
I don't have a second place.
>>34759943

I'm a hiki so I only have one place, my parents basement.
>>34760598
Also the gym
How is this not original
>>34760598
tree guy here
I go to the gym a lot because I'm too poor to buy the equipment for my place.
Thankfuly people don't interact a lot there
>>34760649
r9k is infested with chads thats how
Also don't have a second place, but I do have a third (which I often use to escape home when my parents get on my nerves). It's a quiet spot with a lot of vegetation in the middle of the city, but pretty far from any roads. No one is ever there and it's pretty close to my home so I go there a lot, especially in the winter when it's not so hot.
>>34760598
>>34760649
>>34760669
the gym is a positive habit.
places like planet fitness are designed to NOT accomodate Chads and meatheads......but they do welcome girls.
This is a god tier thread. I don't have a third spot because I'm pretty uncomfortable outside in general just sitting there.
I love peeking into robots lives, though :)
dont leave home. dont have a second or third place
>>34760753
Anyone who appreciates Third Place comfyness needs to appreciate Nighthawks
I don't have one. I don't go anywhere except my apartment and work.
>>34759943
I don't have a second, or third place. I used to have a spot in the very back of the school library, back when I was in college. I only saw like 8 people go back there in my 2 years of sitting back there. I could sit with my back to the corner with my laptop on in front of me, using the colleges fast as fuck wi-fi. It was kind of like my second room. It was secluded, even though it was public. I miss it, now that I think about it.
My third place is my local skatepark but in the winter its a ski resort near where I live. It turns out being good at either of those sports doesn't help you make friends if you're completely unlikable.
I've been looking for one, but there's nothing that isn't close to a loud road or isolated enough not to encounter normies within proximity of where I live. Got any suggestions for cool places, brobots? (I'm too uncomfortable to sit at a Starbucks or McDonald's, BTW)
>>34759943
A casino on the rez
>>34760305
>being on the computer where people can see your screen
That shit drives me crazy even if I'm doing completely normal shit. I guess you could sit with your back to the wall, but that would make people wonder why you have your screen turned away. Why should we go to a physical location to check the internet?
>>34760898
if you go in a wendy's, a chipotle or even a mcdonald's late nights (or an hour before closing), you'll see minimal normies.
>>34759943
Does WoW count as a third place?
>>34761129
no patrick wow is not a third place
>>34760988
But there might be employees there. I look so unkempt they might kick me out, to be honest.
there's a bar I go to once a week on Wednesdays
>>34759943
probably a starbucks near my campus. it is massive, has great wifi and everyone there is reserved with polite workers. not the usual liberal cesspool.
>>34759943
my second place is the internet.
my third place is the shower
>disabled & on gov ben.
>>34761291
Why Wednesdays? Do you go because you like that specific bar or because people leave you alone there?
>>34762435
I used to go with my dad that day and just got used to it. the bartender knows me and doesn't charge as much.
>>34760791
I do appreciate Nighthawks, senpai.
My third place would be the gym.
All I ever do is play on computer, schooling, and work out.also a bit of piano but thats once a week
>>34759943
1st place
>Home
2nd place
>Whataburger (As a customer)
3rd place
>I don't hang out with enough people, so I'm gonna just say I sometimes go to my local vintage stock for magic the gathering cards I never play with

Edward Hopper is a /comfy/ painter. His colour choice truly captures the robot lifestyle
hookah lounge near my friends college
>>34759943
Nigga what McDonalds? I'm in Central Jersey. Is it in Burlco?
Live and work at home, I guess gym when I feel motivated enough to go. I got nothing else
The library
Pretty comfy unless some dumbfuck single mother brings her screaming kids in
>>34760749
>planet fitness
Been a member for 6 months now, absolutely hate it. People come in all the time and crowd around the dumbell rack every Monday to look busy so they can get free pizza. Fuck freeloadin' NEETs.
>>34762850
I haven't looked at any of his other paintings but the one you posted is beautiful. Despite the strong use of colors, his paintings seem to be a bit depressing, dreamlike, unsettling, and comfy all in one.just like my life.
i dont have one specific place but i do go on walks most nights and theres a couple specific routes i enjoy
ive never had a third place
>>34759943
my third place is either my car or my soundproof closet.
>>34759943
I don't have a second place.
What makes you think I would have a 3rd?
Its just one. Home. All the time.
>>34764174
I go on walks a lot too. Just to be somewhere other than alone at home or at work.
I guess I always have this fantasy that I'll have some form of human contact while on my walk. It never really happens though.
>>34759943
A cozy grunge cafe near my house, pic related I took over the summer. There's a lot of strange people like a goth pirate band but everyone is super nice. Basically like the goth/art lunch table in high school. It was a Pokemon go stop so business was booming and always open until 3am. It's easy to make new friends there.
The only down side is that I always got a stomach ache after eating there and there's no air conditioning. It's not so clean.
>>34764641
That looks really comfy. Good for you !
>>34764270
Open for business

Yes I played Jenga with the goth pirate band. Forgot what their name was but one guy had a gold pimp cane
Movie theater, it takes my mind off things and it's quite comfy, usually go during night showings when I get out of work
>>34759943
At my current college, we bring a nice bong down with us in between classes and just hang out. feels nice man. We are basically 100 yards away from the picture. Ocean front and secluded.
>>34764808
I really love going to movies by myself, but I also hate myself for it because it reminds me just how alone I am.

Newport was fun, a lot of geese poop when I went. Took this picture
The local shooting range. I'm an aspie but I can strike up conversations about guns and shooting with other people and everyone flows so smoothly like I don't have any anxiety in my mind.
It's one of the reasons why I like shooting as a hobby, it's the only place where I can feel like myself.
