I drank alcohol once on a friday with some coworkers. God it's disgusting. I had to brace myself not to vomit it all out and swallow it down.

I started out "drinking normally". For about 6 years I only drank socially with my friends on the weekends. The full blown alcoholism came later. I never once enjoyed drinking back then, though. I think I only did it because the only way I could get my "friends" to hang out was if there was alcohol involved. I alway woke up the next morning feeling like shit and regretting ever drinking. All it ever did was numb my mind and make me feel like shit. I didn't start drinking heavily till later when the depression kicked in back and I used it to numb myself. If I could go back to my social drinking days, I would never drink.

I love alcohol as an icebreaker. I hate the feeling of being drunk and not having control, but having a few drinks over the course of an evening is a great way to loosen up and bond with your mates or even new friends. Just know that the more you drink, the more of an ass you'll make of yourself when you lose too much filter.
