Don't be weak enough to be crippled by poor money habits. If you have 50k in student debt (because you didn't consider a cost effective option like an associates from your local CC), your monthly payment could be around $600. If you got a STEM major, you could take on that cost as you establish yourself in a field where you make enough to pay it off in <10 years.

Or you could just be a NEET and be so depressed that you commit suicide which is a little bit more crippling.

Financial aid. Local scholarships nobody competes for. Online scholarship. Colleges have exclusive, private scholarships. But agree with you. Currently waiting for Aid and submitted some essays in December. Best to start looking for scholarship and aid in 9th grade. School people will never say this though.
