Lets say that I used to play soccer in high school and was moderately fit and would like to get into that situation again. (I don't go on /fit/ often)
I understand that cardio is really important but I have really large hips and want ottermode-ish.

Lifting helps, but it won't bring you anywhere with women by itself unless you also have a great face.

People recommend lifting because it gets you out of the house, forces you to interact with people, set goals, work consistently and gets your health back on track. It's the first step in becoming a better person, not the whole journey. Plus if you've got an ugly face and aren't rich: yeah, you're fucked no matter what.

Thanks, the hardest part is actually starting because you're afraid you'll fail. Once you get started it's just a matter of being consistent with your calorie counting. After the firsto week or two your hunger levels go down drastically.

To be fair, lifting and proper diet are not that complicated. Outside of some very niche stuff that doesn't make a difference unless you're an Olympic athlete or professional coach, you can pick-up everything you need to know in 6 months or so.
