>mom and other female relatives used to say I was handsome
>for long I thought they were right
>entire family told me that I'm cute/pretty/gorgeous all my life
>soon realized they only told me this so they wouldn't fuck up my self esteem/because we're related
Oh.
Yeah, don't even remind me about it.
Worst of all is going out with your father, in your 20's, and hearing him saying "all ladies are looking at you, son".
Gets me every time, my dad is real bro, we're really close that I even see him as a friend, so I know he says these things only to cheer me up, but at the same time, the lies hurt a little, I wish they were true.

>the lies hurt a little, I wish they were true.
You know, he probably thinks they are true. Parents can be very blind when it comes to see their children's defects. Kinda sad

I would never trick my kids into thinking they are something they aren't.
>cousin was told when kid he could sing
>he still thinks he can and even do it in public
>all I can do is give him minor tips on how to sound less bad

I know, but he goes a bit too far to say that girls are actually looking at me when we're out.
That is a flat out lie, isn't really a "you're really handsome, son", which would make sense, since maybe he ignores my defects and think I'm good looking. However that's not the case.
Again I don't wanna sound like I'm bitching about my father, I have a lot of respect for him anyway.

Your father sounds like a kind guy!
Atleast my dad never lied about my looks but he never said much at all

He really is, I wish I was half the man he is tbqh.
