I'm sxe and have been for a long long time.

I don't understand why people like alcohol. Just makes you dizzy and unaware of surroundings. I've only tried it few times and honestly it was overrated. Also beer stinks like piss. "Hard" liquor feels like swallowing detergent and grape juice tastes better than wine.

As for smoking, the "buzz" was nauseating and the smell felt like I inhaled something out of a chimney (these were supposedly good quality cigarettes).

Honestly wish I was at this point in my life. I spent a lot of time drinking to impress people who now don't really seem to care what's going on in my life. Went to so many parties where I thought if I drank interesting shit would happen to me/I'd get laid. Never happened. I didn't lose my virginity till I was 28 and even then it was to a girl one of my friends dated years before me who had a shit ton of psychological problems. Man I wish I could do it all over again, I'd ignore all the asshats who verbally and physically abused me that led to my dropping out of high school and and actually do something with my life.

In the long run, I realize now I really should have. A bit of booze-induced perspective and reflection would have helped me through losing my best friend in 2010 and the ensuing depression/alienation.

Yep. I was kind of surprised at how common drug use is at college. One of my friends had a mental breakdown and admitted they're afraid they're not able to quit cocaine. When I pressured them about it when they calmed down a few days later they just tried to dance around it. Tried to be a positive influence but it was difficult because I knew if I pushed too hard I'd scare them off.

I think they've mostly quit at this point like a year and a half down the road but its still something I want to address at some point because I know they still use other drugs casually.

I wouldn't say I'm straightedge but I've never smoked pot or done any other drugs and I barely drink. I'll have wine on special occasions but I always have to really force alcohol down. A few months ago at a family gathering I had a beer to look normal and it was excruciating to drink it. As soon as I finished it, I ran to the bathroom and started gagging from a mix of nausea and anxiety, nearly threw up even though it was only one beer.

I also went to a cousin's party the other day. I have social anxiety and avoid parties but my sister wanted me to go. All everyone talked about was drinking and getting drunk. I had nothing to relate to. I hate that all teenagers and adults are so obsessed with drinking and drugs. It's so uninteresting and I genuinely can't understand it. Everyone treats me like a freak for not drinking, I know they think it's funny when they see me with a soda. It's just so stupid.
