I think I know what you mean. I had about 9 people around for my 16th because I somehow managed to worm my way into a group of decent people and call them my friends, but having them all around just sort of highlighted the disconnection between us and after that we barely hung out again.

Some people are made to flourish in social events, some not so much, then there's people who just do not fit in under any circumstance who know that.
