Ask a nearby university chemistry department whether they have any discarded chemical storage bottles you can take. I took a horticulture class in college and we all got these giant 5-gallon bottles that they ship sulfiric acid in to make our terrariums. The sulfiric acid bottles are pre-cleaned, even. They are, in fact, acid-washed and then rinsed with water. You can't get much cleaner than that.

To make a terrarium, put some damp fertilized soilless medium in a large bottle, add some plants using long sticks, and add a tiny bit of water occasionally.
