My parents weren't shooting for a certain number, but the child prior to me was miscarried. Had he lived, my chances of conception are infinitesimally small. Maybe they'd have had a fifth if that one lived, but the chances of me being the sperm getting to the egg would be extremely small.

What's weird is I remember being vividly aware of this back when I was like 5. I remember my parents overhear me talking to one of my siblings about it, and he said "We'd have still had you!", but I remember explaining that there might have been a fifth, but not me in particular.

It's a shame, too, honestly. The aborted kid probably would have enjoyed life a lot more than me. I'm fairly indifferent.
