No, it's a rectangle I cut out from a Hallmark, thick-papered "happy birthday" card. It filters out everything, especially when you make the length of the rectangle longer and roll it tightly for that spiral-like effect to allow only smoke to pass through.. the occasional speck might pass through too but it's a fuckton better than huffing unfiltered chunks of weed down your trachea.

How do you roll your tips?

Do you just make a spiral, or do the M/W shape, or something else?

There are a lot of ways to do it.

Also, those look like RAW papers in the OP. Personally I'm not a huge fan of those because I find they have to be rolled in a really specific way to burn properly, and even then, they tend to run. I like the orange Zig Zags a little more, although they do contaminate the flavor of the weed more than RAWs. But they burn a lot better.

It's 15 USD per gram at the dispensaries in my area, so I would consider $10 Canadian to be a very good price. It's about half of what we pay here ($10 Canadian is just a few cents more than like $7.50 American)

You have to clean the tar out of pipes. It's a hassle. Also they can break or get damaged.

Joints are portable, disposable, never require cleaning...they're convenient compared to pipes IMO. They are terrible for smoking indoors because they leave a lot of smell, though. But for outside, joints are just fine.

It's not that bad at all. I sometimes roll with a filter and sometimes without. Doesn't really bother me either way.

But the filter is nice to allow you to roll a smaller joint, and to smoke more of it without burning your lips. I'll grant that.

At the same time it's sometimes just nicer to crumble some pot up into a paper and just smoke it without having to really think about anything. Especially if you're a medical patient and need pain relief or nausea relief and want to keep the fiddling to a minimum.

That's why we either twist the end into a point with a small hole in the middle, or don't grind the plant material up so finely, so it's more like shreds rather than teeny particles.

I would estimate that out of the ones I've rolled, about 25% have been with the tips/roaches/whatever. The other 75% have been old-fashioned American-style. At medical dispensaries that sell joints to patients though, mostly they do come with the roaches.

Well, in my experience they get dirty easily and it's a hassle to clean them. I like joints better for that reason and while the bong is more efficient, I don't think the effect is that big.

if it sideburns, gently wet the tip of your finger with your tounge, and run it over the lowest part of the burning end, this will slow down the burn and let the sideburn catch up.

Here, I rolled a joint and its filter a certain way to show you what the inside looks like using thee design on the end of the filter. The centre is packed, and the sides are like a channel. If you hear a crackling sound as you roll the joint between two fingers, that means its loose enough to draw smoke well and stay intact.
