Same. I'm a white-Hispanic, black-Hispanic mix so I look extremely racially vague. Most people think I'm either middle eastern or some kind of Asian.
When they find out I'm Hispanic though they insist I speak Spanish to them when I don't know a word.
It's actually a very nice feeling being super racially ambiguous because people have zero expectations.

I'm hispanic and my family has lived here legally since early 1900s.

Almost none of us know Spanish and aside from some traditional stuff (mostly food and partying) we're very "white" as in adults have good jobs (minus me) and raise their kids to be responsible people and all that.

But for whatever reason I'm one of the darkest in the family. It doesn't bother me, but the Spanish thing does. I can't be a real Mexican or a real American.
