What is your favorite anime /r9k/?

I've seen a lot but mine is Madoka Magica. It was short had a great story and made me feel like no other show.
>>
>>34557355
homura is shitt. kyoko is the best magic girl
>>
I want to rewatch it but I'm not sure I could handle the feels.
>>
>>34557399
Kyoko was actually my least favorite.

>>34557406
I've watched it 4 times if you include watching all the movies as watching it again. I wish I could watch it for the first time again. It was honestly amazing the first time I watched it.

The monogatari series is my fav. Watched the whole series twice and would watch it all again if I wasnt in college. I've also wanted to rewatch madoka, which is either my second or third favorite.

Homura a best

Only 2 people have a favorite anime on /r9k/? I would love to hear more peoples favorites.

The movie doesn't have nearly as many feels as the show but it is still great.
>>
>>34557355
I mean it's hard to top Gurren Lagann.

But then there's also Kyoukai no Kanata, Konosuba, Boku no Hero Academia, etc. and I agree about Madoka. Basically any anime I was hyped to watch every week, or binged through in a single day is one I would be fine calling my favorite.

Like how the fuck do you pick a favorite out of all the genres and stuff?

Cowboy Bebop

I just got into it a few months ago and now it's my favorite show. I don't even like anime that much, but my coworker recommended it so I gave it a try because it sounded familiar.
>>
Mine is Digimon, but everyone always thinks that I'm joking.
>>
>>34558299

watched that for the first time as well the other week actually

way too good, felt empty when it was done
>>
>>34558323
Dubbed or subbed? Cause I love it, even dubbed, but I still wouldn't call it my favorite. I'd maybe call it the show that was my childhood that holds up the best. Do you get the digimon games as they come out?
>>
>>34558360
I watch the dub. In my opinion, it's leagues better than the Japanese version. I don't play the games, though.
>>
>>34557569
I've actually have never seen the monogatari series I might give it a watch sometime.

>>34558222
>>34558227
Gurren Lagann is in my top 5 for sure maybe a little higher.

>>34558258
Kaiji was really good imo.

>>34558299
Cowboy Bebop is probably my second favorite maybe third. At one point it was my favorite. Madoka still was too good to me to not be my favorite.
>>
>>34558385
The dub has some positives and the sub also has some positives. like the Dub has leagues better sound design. even if it's just 90's pop music and branded music made specifically for the show, it's better than the japanese silence and classical music. But the sub has somewhat better voice acting and takes the story more seriously.

Also the whole Omegamon vs Omnimon thing.

And the games are really fun. considering digimon is a multiverse, the games are just more content.
>>
Legend of the Galactic Heroes

It's a boring answer though, I wish I had a more obscure favorite anime
>>
Spice and Wolf

>>
If I can pick a movie, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. Laputa is a close second, though, for different moods.

Haven't watched many series lately, but probably Evangelion or something. I should rewatch Lain, though. Mostly been reading manga when I feel like weebing it up these days.

>>34558474
I really need to find ~70 hours to watch this through, since I've had it downloaded for ages.
>>

also i love samurai champloo and highly recommend it to anyone (kinda weird since i find cowboy bebop kinda boring)

btw
1) is nhk worth watching?
2) how do i watch clannad without falling asleep? i believe i managed to stay until like 5th episode and then dropped it because absolutely nothing happened meanwhile

Yes
>how do I watch Clannad without falling asleep
The first season is pretty shit in general, you've just gotta push through. I loved the second season but haven't rewatched the show because of the first season.
>>
>>34558568
I think NHK was good and relatable but it had a lot of cringe worthy parts. It got good halfway through then got bad again then good again at the end. I liked it so its probably worth a watch.
>>
>>34558474
I have managed to watch ond episode of this, and only stopped cause I was in the middle of Mobile Suit Gundam and had no room for two space operas. But at least I'm ahead of everybody who only claim they are eventually going to watch LotGH.
>>
>>34558651
I actually watched it at the same time as Gundam SEED and Gundam 0079. It was a weird time.

Anyway if you want to give it a shot start with the movie instead of the first two (or three, I forget) episodes

Hard to pick one in particular, I probably have 10 or so that are special to me, maybe Monster though, I love the atmosphere of europe around the last days of the Berlin wall, it's very much as I remember it, the story really strikes a chord with someone who's depressed I think, in a Lain and Boogiepop-ish way, the characters are very interesting as well..

Beyond that I guess it's many of the classics, Bebop, Champloo, Lain, Kino, Nausicaa, Gintama, GitS, Zipang, Galaxy Express 999. Madoka didn't quite hit home with me but I enjoyed the visuals.

What anime are you guys watching nowadays and what do you think about it?

I finished Hunter x Hunter (2011) yesterday, thought it was pretty good for a classic "battle anime", the thing with Chimera ants dragged on a bit and some times they relied a bit too much on the narrator, but beyond that it was decently paced and pretty varied.

Oh, just the movie. I've actually never seen the old live-action movie. Yeah, but it's much further explained in the manga why that is important. Not all the robots have the button in their vagina. It plays heavily into the plot at the end. The main character learns he can never have sex with Chi if he wants her to retain her personality he fell in love with. He has to decide if that's the most important aspect of the relationship or not.

The anime seems focused mainly on 'ecchi'? The books explain much deeper into what went wrong with the first robots, the relation between several characters and their robots, and the children's novels are elaborated on a lot more. It's just a lot better, it actually is more then just a show about cute robots. I dunno', you'd just have to read it. There's a lot of dialogue exploring aspects of love versus lust in the books. It also explores the downsides of A.I. as a replacement for human compassion.
>>
>>34560062
Cowboy Bebop was really good and people that don't like anime generally still like it same with Neon Genesis Evangelion. I'm OP so Madoka Magica was my favorite it's not quite the show that you might think it is. If you watch the first 3 episodes and at the ending of the 3rd you aren't interested you probably wont like it.
>>

I'll give Eve no Jikan a go starting tomorrow. I need a new show to watch. Thank you for the, possibly not intended, suggestion! Definitely give it a go if you like human-machine relations. The aspects presented are applicable to human relationships, but the whole series heavily explores the different types of relationships humans can seek with a machine as well as repetition on the fact that no matter how human something seems, it is still nothing more then a program. It also explores how such relationships can affect human relationships and put them on edge. It even explores relationships between robots briefly. Don't watch the show, the show is shit to be quite honest.

Nagisa Shiota is why I stuck around

Akatsuki no Yona was bretty good and the manga is even better. Yes it's a shoujo but it's the only one that didn't cause me to grow a vagina.

shoujo is one of the better anime genres anyway, except for the shitty lips in many character designs

>the mercenary going Guts mode with his prosthetic limb, going berserk on niggas in the woods in the night
>the head monk's insane and sudden epiphany in the cell
>that aerial confrontation between the buxom blonde witch and the archangel
>the reclusive brunette witch's rescuing everybody's asses from immolation

It truly could've easily been so much worse than it was, and still wasn't, so I felt relief from that. Also, so glad that it wasn't the moe fanservice-saturated shitfest that its title implies. Thanks, Production I.G..

the second FMA series is obviously on a grander and dare I say it epic scale than the first one was but I honestly cannot decide which if either I like better because they were really both so damn good especially the first one considering it was completed during the manga's run and so they had to write an original ending and other material

Now that I think about it, I agree. I also enjoyed His and Her Circumstances, Natsume Yuujinchou, Shirayuki-hime, Nana (might make /r9k/ reeee though) and countless classic mahou shoujo. Josei is also good with shows like Chihayafuru, Honey & Clover, Rakugo and Kids on the Slope.

It's so much fun watching what's pretty much an amalgamation of tropes of silly 80's & 90's American buddy cop movies kek
