There's a lot of things that actually are impossible and most of the time "just doing something" isn't the best course of action. Knowing your limits, "impossibilities" and planning ahead will save you from endless regret.

When we sent a man on the moon, do you think we "just did it"? There was an insane amount of planning, weighing risks and eliminating them. Nobody at NASA ever said "just do it", actually they did, once, then the astronauts blew up at launch.

"Just applying for the job" isn't gonna help you. You need to take the time to put effort into your resume and make the entire thing look good and convincing.

When I graduated, everyone told me I had to send dozens of applications at least half a year in advance, all my friends did and nobody could understand why I didn't do it as well. 2 months before I needed a job I wrote 3 applications and got 3 invitations, prepared myself for the first and got the job.

One of my friends had written well over 50 applications and got turned down every single time. Turned out the photo he included was taken by his mum in the kitchen in a hurry. My photo was taken by a professional.

I'm not excusing inaction, but I guess you get the point.
