My 101 advice for that is seriously to invest some time into meditation. I spent some time at a free camp that involved spending most of your day in meditation, and after 2 or 3 you can teach yourself how to put yourself in a perfect trance.

Meditation or any other form of hypnosis can really help people to live in the present and disconnected from their inhibitions.
