Same here OP. They began fighting soon after I was born and split up many times before divorcing when I was 5 or 6. It was comfy growing up with an older single mother though, a quiet clean house and so on. She found a boyfriend eventually and went through the menopause, and I hated the guy but he explained that my mother was so angry all the time because of the menopause. Eventually he broke up with her because he didn't like me (his son and I would fight all the time) and my mother became manically depressed for years, telling me I was a bully, that I shouldn't have been born, that I was a burden, and then she turned to Chinese medicine and found another boyfriend and was ok. I love her but being raised by a mother and sister alone has taught me not to expect much from women.

I met a girl whose dad was, no shit, 59 when she was born. Which made him 80 something now
