When you have something you are insecure about, e.g. your asymmetrical face or your big nose, you will often have some slight delusions about it in order to not feel so bad. E.g. "my face is only a little asymmetrical" or "my nose is a bit bigger than it should be but it's not really that much if an issue". So when someone insults that very trait, it forces you to face the truth, and also makes it out to be a bigger problem than it is, which creates that feeling of being deeply insulted and feeling bad

So if you don't have those delusion and know what's good and bad about you you won't feel so insulted
