How many push-ups can you guys do?
I've had enough of my skinny arms.
So I'm doing a push-up challenge

When do I get to 100?

Is it better to do reps and sets, or just go for as many as you can in one go? What's better for improvement?

Takes about a month, you need to spread them out over a few hours so you don't get fatigued tho.

Anyway, I can do about 30. Yet I can actually lift a little more than my body weight (around 160-165 lbs last I lifted).

I can't bench my weight, not even close. 171lbs, I can do 80lbs pretty consistently of 3x10. I've been lifting for about two months now. should I just give up?

I've never tried to go until failure, but yesterday I hit 30 and pumped out another 5, so 35 in one go.

Thing is though, after doing 30-35 in a set, I'm fucking spent, I'm not out of breath or anything but my next set is going to be like 20 max, then probably 15 at most after that. I guess my muscles get fatigued quickly is the thing.

Also depends on how quick I do them, that set of 35 was with me pushing them out quicker, still went all the way down and back up, but if I did them slower it would probably be 25-30 max.

The problem is you can't do pushups EVERY DAY unless you are also doing a full body workout. You will strain your pecs after a week.

Definitely a nice investment. If you want to maximize dem gains then you might want to do both. I'm working on my push ups but pull ups I can easily knock out 50 in one go, 60 if I try that much. And before someone calls me Chad, I'm still a skinny dude at 147 lbs and 5'8. Just have to keep at it OP. At least you're actually trying.

push ups barely work arms. you should do tricep and bicep curls to build arms. you should just set up a work out routine. also, getting big is mostly about your diet anyway.

havent tested how many i can do in a while but probs about 40 - 50.

I used to do 50 push-ups in a row everyday as an exercise before bed. After about four moths of doing it I tried to do a hundred and succeeded. It was hard as fuck after about 75 but man, that was a fun thing. (14 at the time, and was a Brad back then)

depends on the exercise. obviously not being stuff like not being able to shoulder press your weight isnt bad at all

even people who dont lift can usually dead lift their own weight. dead lifting twice your weight should be your goal.

idk, never tried to max out. I chest press 3 times a week so doing push ups kind of wastes my upper body strength, i feel.

I think the most I ever did was like 35 but I got bored and stopped, I could have done more.
