tell them you want to learn a trade because there are better job prospects and you'll incur less student loan debt. most community colleges offer a variety of education for various trades, like welding. 8-9 month courses. easy stuff. you could get out, go overseas and make 200k a year. tell your parents that. if they don't think that's a good idea, do it anyway.
