Can you jump back into a book after a year, or do you have to start over? The Shining is a long-ass book.
That's up to you, isn't it? I don't think I'd be able to, but I can't even "jump back" into most video games.
I guess you could read a plot synopsis up until where you are and carry on from there?

I lack visual imagination. I can't read descriptions, I have to read dialogue and stage directions. I can read a screenplay in half the time it takes to watch the movie, and I can read Notes from the Internet Apocalypse in less than a day. Real novels, though..

Ok now I just feel bad. That must suck, I'd probably kill myself if I couldn't visualize what I'm reading.
If it were me I'd be tempted to start over. I've picked books back up after a month or so but a year is a little too long I think.
