Cut it yourself. Even if you mess up, it will fix itself within a week. This is assuming you have normal hair, not some nu-male fade youth braid row.

I tend to get a haircut every 6 months or so; I usually go to a fancy hipster place that includes a beer and a shot with the haircut.

I just tell the person that I feel like a change, and that as long as I can part my hair, and it connects to my beard, I'll be happy.

They usually ask a couple more questions, and then come up with something that they feel will work.

The closest place to me is exactly what you just said. Some hipster place that gives you drinks. I looked online and it's freaking 50 dollars for a haircut. I don't understand why people pay that much. I just go to super cuts for 10 dollars (includes tip). Yea the haircut looks like shit at first, but in a week your hair grows out and it looks good. Plus if they totally fuck your hair, it's hair and it grows back anyway.

I bought an electric hair clipper set. Give myself a number 2 haircut all over. Problem solved and way cheaper than hair dressers.

You can buy hair clippers easily, they sell them everywhere.

You're paying premium for better service. Granted, I wouldn't spend $50 on a haircut. But you can't deny that they would treat you better, give you a better haircut that doesn't need a week to grow into, have a clean establishment, and supply you with amenities, television, and like the salon you're talking about, beer.

I could give you more reasons why you're paying more and where it goes.

Luckily I don't give a shit about the extras and have my cousin cut my hair for $10 in her backyard. She works at those expensive places but has all the equipment at home as well.

buzzcuts are also really freeing for so many reasons (no hat hair if it gets cold, don't have to account for hair drying time ever, no impressions in your hair from sleeping, cut it whenever you want if it looks a bit ratty) and i miss mine immensely

Let your hair grow and then buzz cut it when you want a haircut.

Anything else is an effectatious haircut. An attempt to pretty oneself, something real ppl dont work to do.
