I'm an agnostic and I've never truly believed the God meme. But I can see the benefits religion brings, especially in the sense of keeping some of our most primal, short term gratifying but destructive really, tendencies in check. I can accept it on the basis of sharing a set of values but nothing more.

I've attended a protestant highschool for a few years and can definitely recognize it as being superior in many senses to the other public schools I attended. It played the biggest part in my my development of moral values, and made me appreciate the upsides of religion as social engineering.

I can remember some old peers who were still on the fence about it all while still attending church. So how do I swing it? I never did it, but would like to, generally speaking for meeting decent people. I've discovered I get along better with actual christians than atheists, and would like to find a chaste wife.
