are you talking about ecole Polytechnique?
That's also a great school anon. Solid engineering program. I hope you do well there.
>>34346831
your dad has you best interest in mind. I wish I had a dad who gave a shit what I do. after I graduated I spent a year at home doing nothing and my parents didn't say dick.
>>34346831
you make that face now mr. frog, but one day you'll realize that if you don't follow his advice you're going to regret it even more. The one thing I regret most in life is that I didn't make my dad proud of me. I'd give my own life if that's what it took to make him happy.
listen to your dads, frogs. Unless they're complete shitheads they tend to know these things.
are your grades good enough? not sure if you can pay your way into MIT
>>34347491
x= random school
>>34347492
I would if I could. I am not smart enough. My grades are not good enough. I'll be lucky to go to the state school. my gpa is around a 3.3
Kill me please
>>34347557
>my gpa is around a 3.3
How can you fuck up so much in high school
high school is easy as fuck, especially nice private ones
>>34347596
How are private schools easy? I think it's what fucked me.
All my friends who went to my private school left and told me after they left they got easy 4.0s. I think going to a private school fucked me in retrospect. Either way I'm fucked
>>34347557
>my gpa is around a 3.3
thats good enough though. i had a lower grade point average. still made it into a state school
>>34347557
>I am not smart enough
you don't really need good gpa. there are other factors at play
>>34346831

schools don't really care that much about GPA.what are your SAT scores? also, are you black or a woman? cause that would help.
>>34346831
lol does your name start with J
Mechanical engineering is a awful field. Their jobs all get sniped by physics majors.
As a mechengineer your job will primarily consist of sitting in front of a computer and designing things, which a physic's major can do far better

Im not mad at my dad, Im mad at myself.
My dad just called me.
>son, your brother and sister are just in college getting by
>you son, I want you to be the one that makes it big
So how do I an hero?
>>34347911
Please enlighten me with the specifics of your job, mister mechanical engineer.
Do whatever makes you happy Anon.
My dad was the same way and I fucking hated him. Forced me down to 2 decisions: Attend college OR learn a trade.
I took the trade route (Carpenter) and it was the shittiest job I've had. I refuse to go to college as well because I hate the education system here in the US and would rather do it elsewhere (potentially for free). I don't want to give up 4 years of my fucking life and suffer crippling debt right now.
I'm 19 years old but I took my own route and started to learn to Day Trade and do Apartment Locating on my downtime. On top of that, I have a relaxing comfy ass job of working at a Botany on the weekends. Saving up 50k and hitting up Czech Republic soon to start a new life.
Life is good because I refused to listen to my dads bullshit. Up to now, it's been a giant middle finger to him.

no

the only thing that will make me or my dad happy is making $
which is pretty hard in my situation:/

Start planning ahead is all I can say.
Kids at your age (I'm assuming you're OP) are primarily focused on "dude weed lmao" and college. They never consider the possibility of what could happen if you didn't attend college. That wake up call happens after so much lost time for some.
You can definitely be successful without it.
