Parents would obviously treat a girl differently because different things are expected of christian men and women and shit.

There was a number of bad things, some seperate from the homeschooling aspect itself.

For instance, my parents were abusive narcissists who would threaten to stop loving me if the beatings weren't working, or at one point cancel my little brother's baby to guilt me into doing better at school. Basically homeschool tends to attract the more psychotic parents and allows them to do whatever the fuck they want to you with no intervention from the outside world because you're completely isolated from it.

The other problem is with the actual homeschooling itself. Unless your parents actively work to take you out to homeschool and co-op social gatherings, field trips and conventions you'll never meet anyone and basically just learn to accept isolation. So even if you're extroverated and decent at socializing and conversation like me, you'll just end up staying at home all day instead of going and doing anything.

There are a few different reasons it's really unlikely. I'm only like 50/50 on wanting kids in the first place, half the time I see them I think they're great but the other half I just think how much time it would take up. Having good instincts isn't everything, I'd need to commit basically all my time to being a parent and I don't know if I could do that, and that's only instinct about a bit of parenting and there's much more where kind and caring as I might be I might simply have zero idea what to do. Finally I'm incredibly picky about people so just good parenting instincts wouldn't be enough for me to want to spend all my time and raise children with someone, we would also have to be perfect matches in everything and I never meet people anyway. A few different reasons and it's not even "if you want something in life" because I might not want it.

Prefferably I'd have longer but I don't know what my financial situation will be or whether I'll even end up in that situation ever so I'm just estimating. The thing is, if I am successful, work would probably end up being me working half of the year and being home full time for the other half or something similar. I don't think not know what to do is that big of a deal. I don't think any parent could possibly ever be fully prepared for having a kid. And ultimately, it depends on who you have your kids with. I wouldn't want to ever have kids unless I found someone who I really connect with on a deep fundamental level, otherwise you'd just end up bickering and fighting and hurting the kids after the divorce.

It's unfortunate that having kids is one of those things that you have no idea whether you'll be good or terrible at unless you try

Working from home with kids would be the best parenting. Why would having them on set with you be bad for their development? I would have loved a childhood like that! Hoping you are successful, please at least take them to the set sometimes and give them a chance so you can see what it's like for them.

You said I might have good parenting instinct but it really might be just those two things, not wanting to force or punish them. Everything else I will probably be a terrible judge at. That's why a blanket rule like not pushing them at all would be so easy.

Android (and Bluestacks) is worse resource hog than Windows. Nobody should use Android phones or emulators. That's why Android-only apps (kik, instagram) irritate me so. Their only rationale is mass surveillance.

I think it really depends on the kid's personality types. I've always been fairly outgoing/extroverted so being forced to stay at home was like hell for me. When I finally got into public school I had a hell of a time (and not in a negative way) but since I was still sorta wierd/socially stunted from my past experience, I didn't make any lasting friendships or get a girlfriend and just sorta ended up having nothing to do after I gradded, which is where I am now.

Currently I just stay at home and shitpost/play video games while waiting for my next gig as a freelance cameraman to come up and slowly work towards film school next fall. And also working on a few of my own projects/ideas. Overall my situation could be a lot worse is what I'm trying to say I guess. Despite everything I came out sorta okay-ish.

I just think the constant moving around and hectic pace might not be the best place to grow up, especially for young children. To be fair though, it would be awesome if they could spend some time later on after they were a bit older. Just imagine the memories they'd have of me and being able to go back and watch the movies afterwards and remember all that. That would make me a happy dad. But now I'm going into depth on the hypothetical kids I'd have after achieving my hypothetical dream job which is just silly.

And again with the pushing, I don't think I would at least know whether kids would need a blanket rule of no pushing them into things they're unsure of until I'd had them. I think it's one of those bridges you'll have to cross when you get to them.

Ultimately I think that if you're smart enough to only want kids with someone you really click and can connect with, you'll do okay. So many people who are terrible parents just do it to save the relationship or for whatever stupid reason people have kids.

If you're and whoever you're with are decent human beings, it should generally work out I hope. You can never be 100% sure though, that I can guarantee you. I mean, kids are messy and adorable and gross and unpredictable and you have no way of knowing for sure how they'll turn out or whether they'll turn out or if you can even have them. They're sort of the ultimate gamble of the human experience. It's scary to think about.

Yeah but what if your hypothetical children would actually enjoy public school, but just think that they wouldn't? My little brothers are like that all the time, they think they'd hate something until they try it and they end up enjoying it. But not all kids are like that so I guess we end up with the same terrifying conclusion of "you'll only know once you have them"

Even though I didn't have friends who invited me to stuff, I still really enjoyed the social interaction and the banter. Real fun stuff. Once I got to be the prosecutor for a mock nuremburg trial we had in our history class. I went so hard on the nazis, even the relatively innocent ones and pushed for the death penalty without exception, so much that the class thought I was jewish. (I'm not, I was just having fun)

Stuff like that, all the banter and talk in classes was excellent. Lunch alone always sucked though.

I think I would give it a chance, the kids on set thing. I mean, even if I'm not a perfect parent in every way kids tend to be resilient so hopefully I'll manage to do okay despite any restrictions. You do what you can with what you're got, right? Hopefully I don't screw up bad enough that they wish I'd never had them.

Oh I don't mind talking about it, it's interesting to think about even though ultimately it's sort of an exercise in futility because kids are so scary and unpredictable and terrifying but I think it's still good to think and talk about this kind of stuff, because it will at least maybe prepare you for the unpredictable scary stuff that comes if you ever do have kids.

It's an impossible situation. I hated school and it would have been worth the boredom to escape it. The homeschooled girl hated the boredom but didn't want to go to school, but perhaps she would have liked it if she had. There's no way we can tell.

Just curious, how did you befriend the homeschool girl if you were such a recluse at school?

I only really ate alone for the first half year or so. Afterwards I'd usually eat in the film/media room because there were generally other recluses there or at least people with similar interests. But I never really had a "group" that I'd go eat lunch with like normies had.
