Let's compare irrational phobias
>the sound of car doors shutting outside
>>34318190
>fear of carpal tunnel syndome
Bumble bees
I know they're cute and don't usually attack people unless provoked, but they still have stingers and whenever I see one buzzing too close to me I get really nervous.
>>34318323
That's actually a honey bee, not a bumblebee. They're different.
>>34318190
Vomiting
It literally ruined my life.
>>34318419
Oh. Looks like google images has failed me.
>>34318190
Accidentally putting my phone in the microwave with my food
I have a phobia of vibrating phones somehow.
I can't stand vibrating phones.
When I'm watching anime and there's a vibrating phone on the anime I immediatly have to pause it and calm down sometimes even skipping the whole scene.
Petroleum for some reason. When I was a kid I had nightmares about getting trapped inside an oil tanker and drowning in crude oil. I also couldn't close my eyes in the shower because I though the water could turn to oil at any second.
>>34318190
Cheese. I have an irrational fear for eating cheese.
I can't stand the smell that keys or other metal objects leave on your hand. If I have the option I grab them with my shirt or a glove, but when I have to touch them like when I drive, I immediately wash my hands at the soonest point possible.
medium/large fish tanks, big fish themselves, and deep water like big pools, lakes etc etc and especially the ocean.
it's so odd how i can't walk through the dark, glowy section in pet stores where they have all the tanks stacked together, like the lighting and fish make me feel terrified, i even have nightmares of walking through particularly scary fish departments. and the bigger the fish tank, bigger the fish, the scarier it is, although sometimes my phobia magically goes away, like in cute salt water fish stores..
>>34318190
>the sound of car doors shutting outside
Oh my god, I have this too. It brings me back to the days of running to my room after a day of NEETdom because my parents were home. Fuck, I was so pathetic. I'm still pathetic, but at least now I have a job and live on my own.
>Fear of rejection
needles
>looking at people in the eyes
south east Asians scare me a lot
>That one screamer exorcist picture
>The VHS case to scary movie 2
>>34318190
>the sound of car doors shutting outside
I know this feel. I'm not so much scared of it as I am unnecessarily annoyed by it.
When my neighbors did it back home especially. They were Italian, so they would slam their doors HARD and then talk really loudly. And they usually had a bunch of people in their cars, so once I heard the first door and the first shout, I knew it would be going on for a while.
Also this kind of stuff makes my dog go crazy so I have to sit through a few minutes of her barking like crazy.
Also stinkbugs. I am scared of them because I am extremely disgusted by them. I know they can't hurt me, but I hate most bugs in the first place and can't stand being near them. These fucks are especially scary and disgusting because their buzzing is very loud, and their flight patterns are erratic and random. If I suddenly see one on the wall I leave the room until someone kills it, because I know they'll jump off any minute and fly at an alarming velocity around the room, eventually colliding with me and making me freak the fuck out. I literally get horrible anxiety when this happens. Where I live about a year or two ago they were fucking EVERYWHERE. You literally could not enter a room and not find at least one on a wall or ceiling. It was literally hell and my family makes fun of me to this day of my fear of these digusting fucking things.
FFS even spiders disgust me less.
Fear of elevators. Just being in one or around one with open doors.
>>34318190
>the smell of vinegar or any pickled items
repulsive
i can't sleep if there's chairs turned towards me. i feel like it's an invitation for ghosts/spirits to sit and watch me. am i crazy?
>>34318648
I used to be scared of needles too, but I learned that getting a shot isn't as bad if you let your arm go completely limp first. If your muscles are tense it hurts more.
I also feel calmer when I look directly at the needle before it goes in, although I'm not sure if this works for everyone. I'd rather see it coming.
>>34318698
I know that feel
this post is organic
>>34318917
That is by far the wierdest one but also my favourite.
Keyloggers
Hidden cameras>Fear of rejection
>>34318719
that's how i feel about these giant weird mosquito looking bugs. they are harmless but the way they stumble into rooms and fly so irratically with their horrifyingly scary bodies gives me actual panic attacks.
>>34319242
> weird mosquito looking bugs
pic?
>>34318190
Phones, I'm afraid of phones.
>>34318719
I share your stinkbug fear anon. FUCK them.
>used to sleep with a small light on during middle school
>there was a stinkbug in the room
>wake up in the middle of the night because of a buzz buzz buzz sound
>it was the stinkbug repeatedly crashing on the wall
>it gets confused and falls on my foot which stuck out of the covers
>throw the covers all over, it gets trapped inside
>no way i can sleep there tonight
>crash at the living room
Or
>on the bed with my phone around the same time
>stinkbug decides to investigate my screen and goes all over my face
>afraid to use phone on the bed for months
>>34318190>fear of the dark... kinda
>fear of the unknown
if I turn off the lights and can't see at least 05% of the room I curl up into a ball, shake around a lot and start having this banging feeling in my chest. Only time I ever feel afraid, also... ironically it's not the darkness that I fear but what could be hiding within it.
please don't judge me...
submechanophobia
but not just submerged machines, also submerged trees still standing up underwater. Also thalassophobia, but more of deep water.
>>34319334
crane flys, i remembered the name
very scary
>>34319334
here's what I know of as giant mosquitos, couldn't find a really good pic but you should get the idea
>>34319242
Do you mean Mayflies? Cause I know what you're talking about and to some extent, have the same feeling.
Also, spiders and bees, but only kinda. Like if the bees are around in my yard, I'll watch them and same with the spiders, but if they get too close, I freak out.
>>34319414
>in the bathroom shitting
>having a grand old time until I look up and see a fucking stink bug on the ceiling
>heart skips a beat
>shit session immediately ruined
>it's been directly above me this entire time
>wipe as fast as I can while staring at the ceiling ready for it to divebomb me
>flush toilet and book it out of the bathroom without washing hands, go downstairs to other bathroom to wash hands instead
can't even remember how many times this has happened to me at this point
>>34318434
I used to have this but then figured out it was a fear of embarrassment. Now I have no shame and I don't fear it anymore.
I do however have phobias of
>those tunnel aquariams that surround you with water and sometimes sharks
>falling off railings or escalators
>people looking through my window
>not a phobia but i get uneasy eating with three pronged forks
>>34319561
pro tip: those are the males. They don't suck blood from humans. When they die the females eat them.
>>34319613
yeah i do know they're harmless, but so are spiders and i'm afraid of both
>>34319414
I one time woke up with a silverfish on my arm. And I've had stinkbugs fly into me on multiple occasions. I spare no mercy for bugs.
For some reason whenever there is a full moon and I look at it I get scared.
>>34319599
this exact thing happens to me but with spiders
>>34319644
you're lucky the silverfish were only on your arm.
those things also like to eat eyelashes.
>>34319725
At least spiders don't fly. The ones that you usually find in your house where I live in PA aren't very big either, so that's probably why I'm not very scared of them.
If I lived in Australia then it would be a different story.
>>34319585
crane flies, but maybe they are also called may flies, i'm not sure.
>>34319613
i'm pretty sure they are cranes, not male mosquitos, they're very large.
>fear of playing Paladins against people so I only play against bots even though I've been level 13 for 2 months (you only get exp from bots till 13)
>>34319797
Australian spiders fly?!
>>34318190
one of my childhood fears was a computer or TV that was left on overnight catching on fire while I was asleep. even though I was too afraid of the dark to not have the TV on
still have that fear somewhat and try to keep electrical stuff turned off when I sleep
still fear I'll die in an electrical fire
>>34318190
Insects. Even fucking flies.
I never open my window during the summer, even though it gets really hot.
That my friends are actually just pretending to be my friends and they think I'm a complete retard and discuss it behind my back.
>>34318190
the sound of styrofoam scraping drives me insane
my mom used to have these two crafted glasses that were similar and hearing them scratch against each other did the same thing to my head.
When women collect into large groups and make high pitched squeals followed by "oh my god i missed you so much" or "oh my god youre so pretty yasssss you too" and do lots of hugging and cheek kissing and gossiping.
I also hate it when large amounts of women make noises like cheering and screaming.
>>34318190
High frequency sounds
>tfw I just go unconscious
>>34318190
The static on tv. Listening to the sound of the big bang, or at least a muddled version of it can be spooky.
>>34319490
Everyon who fears darkness fears the unknown lurking in it
hearing my phone ringing
it probably started after this crazy cunt called me like 15 times a day to tell me she would kill me
>>34318190
>come home one day
>walk into living room
>secret gay porn-hoard piled in the center
>ultra-normie conservative family solemnly sitting around the room giving me the thousand-yard stare
>cameramen from TLC filming me live
>this explains the ambulance parked outside
>bitchy-looking intervention organizer telling me to sit down and "let us help you" and "get my life back on the right track"
hasn't happened to me but it seems like something that would
>>34318434
kek, I got over my emetophobia by deluding myself into thinking I have an iron stomach.
I developed a fear of rain after I lived one year in an apartment with severe water leaks.
Now even though I have my own house (which I also modificated after purchase so it would be 100% waterproof) I still check for water leaking signs in certain spots when It's raining.
I literally cannot enjoy rain anymore.
>>34318190
Frogs/toads.
I scream and run like a bitch.
>>34321709
run faggot
>>34320977
You are not alone with that fear. I can almost feel the sound in my bones even when I think about it.
>>34318701
Very much agree, Cambodia is terrifying
I have a severe fear of cockroaches, specifically the flying kind. I always have a can of spray near by to kill the fuckers
really love spiders though
>>34321663
Same. Lived in a house with leaking problems and now when it rains I have to check the entire house multiple times for water
>>34318190
>use gyazo
>take screenshot
>really loud click sound
>every time I know it's coming
>every time I flinch
>>34319603
Dont watch Jaws 3
i'm always scared when opening a door bc i think there will be a giant python greeting me on the other side with its scary python mouth wide open
>>34318190
>someone peeping in my windows
>people looking at me while i'm taking a walk
>plants dying
>tfw have the opposite of claustrophobia
I get nervous when I'm in a wide open area. Is there a name for this?
Misophonia, specifically - eating sounds. Loud chewing, loud gulping, chewing with mouth open, finishing the end of the soda while drinking with a straw, that sound the air makes when you try to get the last drops.
I get a mix of disgust and sheer anger.
I hate myself for it. It makes my life such a pain.
Sometimes also other repetitive sounds that people make, like if someone has a cold and instead of just blowing their nose they will just sniffle every 10-15 seconds.
>>34322240
Agorophobia
>>34322240
Agoraphobia, anon.
>>34322288
Art thou me? I despise eating sounds.
Also, checked.
Looking down from high places. It fucks me over big time, my legs go numb, my heart beats much quicker and i cant think straight. Its not fear of height so maybe its a fear of falling?
>knocking in doors
The fucking sea. Whenever I go to a beach or something I just feel so nervous going too deep. Happens the same when I'm playing vidya and there's a level underwater or water-related.
I'm constantly terrified that I left my front door open
my cat ran away when I was a kid because a door blew open during a storm
it's almost compulsory for me to check the front door several times
Swimming in deep waters.
There is always something swimming beneath you, it's just a matter of how deep . . .
>>34318701
>south east Asians scare me a lot
tfw south east asian
>>34318190
Being around high places.
Like near open stairs and escalators.
>>34318701
Seriously? They're adorable.
There's this Indonesian guy I know, really short and feminine looking, total qt
No homo of course
Most of the irrational phobias in this thread can easily be fixed by just exposing yourself to what you fear until it doesn't bother you anymore.
This is actually a real normie thread.
Reeeeee
I absolutely fear deep water, like oceans or seas, even when the water is above my waist i feel really uneasy. Also when there is a big rock underwater with lots of seaweed around it, or anything else underwater,
recently had a nightmare where i was stuck beside a ship`s propeller, and the ship started to decend into the water.
I`m also terrified of sea creatures like lobsters, crabs, homars, things like isopods, and also fish when the head is attached, they just seem so unnatural that once i almost fainted.
I love heights though, flying on a plane or being somewhere really high up is really calming for me. I often see in my dreams that i can fly myself and it feels so awesome.
I have one
I call it the Irrational Bathroom Fear
Basically sometimes when I'm shitting I fear that I'm actually not conciously in the bathroom and I'm actually shitting in public somewhere which would be horridly embarrasing
girls expressing any kind of interest in me
Every type of bee and hornets
>text that is too big
>hit air balloons hivering behind clouds
>floss getting stuck between my teeth
>being just on time for an appointment, i have to be there 15 mins before or i have a panic attack
>having my back facing the only door to a room because someone might suddenly appear behind me
>pictures painted on the bottom of a pool
>>34318190
>the fear of beeps.
>>34322288
Mygirlfriendhas this. Can't study in the library around lunch time if it's dead silent except for somebody chewing their food
>>34325975
I surprisingly also know this feel. I think it stems from pissing the bed when I would think I was in the bathroom in my dream and wake up to embarrassment.
>>34318917
Holy shit anon me too I always push my chair way into my desk
>>34322041
You're not alone bro
Oregano
can't stand the sound of people walking up and down stairs.
>abused very often as child
>always forced to stay in basement
>every time my parents came down it was to either yell or hit me
>have flashbacks and mini panic attacks if I ever hear someone walking on stairs above me
>anything moving near my head or in the air within my peripheral vision
>the sound of a ball being hit
Cuz people used to throw shit at me all the time
>getting my sides touched
Cuz there was a gay kid in high school who always tried to touch them
>>34318917
I have the opposite. I'm afraid of it being turned away. I just imagine myself waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the chair slowly turn towards me with someone, or something sitting there.
>>34318190
I hate and i get really anxious when i hear tapping on a car's window. The kind of tapping when people ask you "is everything okay sir" afterwards
