No they're not at all though, young women these days seem pretty care free so I don't think I phase them, I don't live in the US either so no school shooter worries, on top of that despite my height 6'2 I'm not very intimidating, I have a fear of groups in general not to mention chav looking types.

Sure, I was a obese beta for most of my life but it's not like I was expecting girls to come to me and spread their legs. But it's so fucked up, I could get along with nerds, chads, stoners, pretty much every type of men throughout my life, because despite my appearance and shyness they would sometimes take a bit of initiative and talk to me first, so I could make something of it and return the favor next time.
But even when I ended up with 20 girls in a class and made friends with the rest of 10 guys, I wasn't even worth a casual small talk with females.

I share that feel OP, each time I talk to a girl even if she's not in a group/pretty, I start to sperg out so much I hear only half of what she says and have to guess the remaining half looking like a complete loser. I've never had a female friend of my life, though I'm consuming phenibut now so things should get better.

Women are brutal in groups. They are very loud, aloof, and mean. If you walk by a group of girls and you're unattractive there is a high chances they'll laugh at you, where as a group of guys won't give a fuck if you're a 1/10 or 10/10. They're super judgmental and love to fuck with guys, this applies 100 fold if they're drinking out at a bar. A large group of drunk stacies is more terrifying to me than a pack of wolves.

Why is this? Because we care so much what they think. They cannot physically hurt us, physical pain is nothing it comes and it goes. You get a cut or a bruise, take a few asprin with a beer and forget about it. But mental pain lasts a life time. I'm 26 and I still remember shit girls said to me when I was in fucking middle school. Those wounds never heal.
